Hey, I literally just joined this forum. Although I have heard about RPG Maker for a while now, I thought it would be interesting to make a game using the program. I am also interested in selling a game, online, after I finish creating it. As I was browsing through the site and forums here, I discovered that you CAN actually sell your finished games. However, I know that there is guidelines regarding the images you use, animations, names, etc. Has anyone who is reading this topic have any experience with this, or has heard of someone who has accomplished this?

Another side question...I want the combat system in the game to be real time (like the Tales series). The story I have for the game is sci-fi related, so I also want to create spaceship battles between two ships, so I'm basically saying it was hand to hand real time battle at certain points of the game, and then in other portions of the game I want their to be ship battles in real time. Is this possible with this program? I know it wont be easy, and it will take time, and I'm fine with that. I just want to know.

Yes, you can sell your completed projects, as long as you have the rights to the assets in the game and give credit to who you got them from if they're not your own. Along with, if they even allow their assets to be used in commercial titles... Some don't allow it, but most do. You'll just have to read the rights on the scripts and artwork you get from people.

Most of the stuff you'll find for this, you can find the scripters on this site :)
If you're unsure, just shoot one of them a message in their inbox and ask what their policies are for commercial use.

I'm sure you can with scripting your own battle systems. However, I've never tried it, but I've saw some seriously impressive stuff made with this, so I wouldn't rule it out.

Only if it's been 72 hours since your previous post on the thread.

Thanks. I want to make the game very long, does RPG Maker MV have a limit on doing so? Is there a limited space of memory?

Only your hard-drive space, and the amount of tile you're willing to dedicate to the project.
Just, keep in mind that chances are if you think something's gonna take a month, it'll probably take a month and a half or two. If you really want a make a very long game, go ahead, but just remember how much work that'll be.

I understand its going to take time. The last thing I want is for the program to have a memory limit, where it prevents me from completing my work. Thanks for answering my question.

There is a limit of 999 maps, and all maps must be 256 x 256 or lower. Also you have a limit on the number of skills, variables, and switches (unsure of the exact number but I think it is 2000 skills, 5000 variables and switches?).

just as an additional info/warning for your question about limits:
on average it is considered that one hour of playing time requires 100 hours of development time. Which means that unless you're working fulltime on game development (or can hire a team), you'll spend years to get a game to more than 2-3 hours of playtime.

Wow, that's many hours. I'm going to have to work 35 hours per week on it. Probably gonna be tired so I better hit up my nearest coffee shop.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
