Hello everyone!

I am thinking about making my own website for some of my friends, and my own, games to be put on for sale. The only problem I have is my lack of HTML and CSS skills, I'd be much better off using a website builder.

Are there any recommended website builders and cheap domain websites I should use for this? Thanks!

You could use Wordpress, Drupal, or something like Dreamweaver.

Just use weebly if you have no other web knowledge. It supports downloads as well as an ecommerce with the business plan.

The only problem I have with Weebly is the expensive Domain. I know there are others out there with >12$

You can buy off another site and apply it to the weebly site with the option "I already have my own domain".

games to be put on for sale.
Be warned that for commercial websites, you not only need to provide a certain security environment and formal structures, but are also required by most countries to have a business licence.
You need to check with your local lawyers for the minimum requirements before making the website (here in Germany, a website without the correct, formal "Impressum", especially if commercial, will be shut down with a fine rather fast).

def. do wordpress.  go to www.themeforest.net and download yourself a theme that you like (they usually run around $50) but most of them are extremely polished and well-maintained with updates.

They will come with a self-installer, too, so, really the only time you need any HTML/CSS experience is if you want to make custom changes, otherwise, wordpress makes everything one big giant web-wizard, and the end result isn't reminscent of 1999's tripod & angelfire websites :)

edit to add:  a lot of this will depend on what kind of host you are using - i use hostgator and recommend against them, as they have very quarky "CPU usage" restrictions that don't seem to make sense half the time.  But, regardless, if you're using some sort of paid hosting, you SHOULD be provided with Cpanel....and using cpanel you will have to create your database for wordpress to install its self to.

It's really simple stuff, point and click type, but if you need extra help figuring it out, let me know, i'll be glad to walk you through it.

Hi,

I working as a web-developer, Im using typo3 but thats to overpowered for this.

You should use Wordpress with a page builder theme like Avada: http://themeforest.net/item/avada-responsive-multipurpose-theme/2833226?s_phrase=&s_rank=1

Preview: http://demo.theme-fusion.com/

Basic WooCommerce is free. Also, if you want to lower costs further, there are some decent free themes out there as well.

I have used Wordpress and it is very good, it's powerful, it's free (aside from domains/hosting), and it's got a ton of free themes and plugins to work with. Wordpress.com needs no hosting but domains are higher-priced than some. Wordpress.org needs separate hosting - I've used Yahoo's Web Hosting and it works pretty well, never used support so I have no idea how good it is. If you were to go for that you wouldn't get a domain, you'd get the option with hosting space (not sure what it's called, but read up on the site and it should have plenty of info).

Certainly not the only option and perhaps not the best, but thought I'd throw my story in here, since I have some experience with websites :)

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
