This thread is for posting the Art and Music i make!
Here's some music i'm making for an album:
Overall, I really like it, particurarly the color choice. I'm not an expert graphic designer but there were two things that crossed my mind - First, if you'd want your character to be more of a silent fill-in for the player, you might want to simplify their facial features. Second, you might also want to add one small shape/detail that will make them more recognizable, like a hair accessory or something along those lines.View attachment 237013This is Art of the main protagonist of the game i'm making.
Their name is Shiloh.
I haven't decided their age yet, and their gender is meant to be ambiguous (like Frisk from Undertale, Kris from Deltarune or Gogo from Final Fantasy VI)
What do you guys think about the character and the design? Anything i could improve or change?

If there's more characters to play as, you probably don't need to simplify anything.I'm still unsure if i want them to be a fill-in, because they will star in a co-op game, so every character will sort of be one, but at the same time i want each of the characters to have their own personalities. Shiloh will be the most silent one though.
Most people who know a lot about character design and stuff would say it's best to add something to the head, though personally, I think upper portion of the body is fine too. You want an eye-catching shape somewhere where people are most likely to look, and in case of characters, it's usually the head.About the second point, do you specifically mean something for the character's head, their sillhouette, or just in general?
Ah, that makes sense. I'll probably make their bowtie bigger so it looks a little more iconic. If there's more characters to play as, you probably don't need to simplify anything.

First off: I'm glad you liked their design! So, I like the design of Shiloh, but I do have some things to point out regarding the art itself.
- The pose is pretty stiff, and I think that's mostly because of the way you probably went about drawing the body. From what I can see, you likely drew the shoulders and then just drew lines at a random location to separate the arms from the body. Don't do that. The body should not be a square. Even androgynous bodies have a sort of curve to them, and the arms usually aren't pressed against the sides. Look up some pics of androgynous bodies to see what I mean.
- The shoelaces are not in perspective. At the angle of the shoes you've drawn, the laces would be more aligned with the side and not just in the centre.
- You're doing the thing a lot of beginner artists do and that's drawing the body crooked. If you draw a line straight down from the top of their head to the bottom of their feet, you'll see it doesn't align. This is more of a practice thing, but it's something you'll eventually need to know to not be considered a beginner artist anymore.
- I'm not sure if the crosshatching on the hair is supposed to be shading or if it's meant to be like, strands, but your style looks pretty simple and so trying to add details like that just kind of throws the style off.
- The hands. I do like that you're attempting to draw hands instead of just hiding them, but they appear to just be fingers awkwardly attached to the wrist. What I had to do and what I think you should do is practice drawing hands by themselves before you even think about drawing them on a full-body portrait.
- The eyelashes are kind of huge and make the character look too feminine. Most simple styles like yours have very little eyelashes to speak of in non-female characters.
Things I do like:
- The nose and the lips are great. The nose really has depth to it.
- The colours are actually not bad. The blue and the yellow really compliment each other.
The reason the pose looks so stiff is because i was going for a model sheet kind of look. The arms are inexcusable, but the reason the body looks so square is because of the style i was going for, like the characters from the Epic Battle Fantasy Series (I can share a picture if you want). It's good to know that it doesn't look that good so i can change it though. So, I like the design of Shiloh, but I do have some things to point out regarding the art itself.
