Crudelis is a 60 minutes long steampunk RPG game. You're Henry - a young scientist obsessed with an idea of bringing people back to life. Unforunately, the experiment was interrupted and you have only 60 minutes to solve the mystery of your death.

Henry Shackelton is the main protagonist of Crudelis. Since the tragic death of Ann - his fiancee - Henry is obsessed with an idea of creating a machine able to bring people from the dead. This is the only way he can regain meaning of his life. Although it's been years since he came Abarian Creek and many people know him, no one will do anything to help him voluntarily.

The world of Crudelis is torn apart by inside conflicts. The rich caste of businessmen is treating their workers as subhumans. Trust is a weakness, because everybody looks only for their profit. The knowledge expands, throwing people into eugenics. It's not easy to convince others to help you deal with your problems. What inspired us was the historical impact of the 19th century Industrial Revolution, as well as the fantasy classics - such as "The Time Machine" by H.G. Wells or J. Verne's "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea".

Even though one session takes maximum of 60 minutes, Crudelis has much more to offer. The plot constantly forces you to pick numerous and not obvious decisions based on residual data, as well as the player's intuition (just like in "The Witcher"). As a result, you can end up experiencing one of the 12 endings... or not seeing any of them, if you won't follow the things of most importance to you. As a matter of fact, there is nothing wrong with sitting in a bar and drinking, or wandering around aimlessly.

Crudelis is a project that took over 3 years of work in RPG Maker VX Ace. The non-standard graphics were enhanced by the unique soundtrack by Richard Wurth, who created 5 tracks for the game. (You can listen to one of them in our launch trailer).

This seems like a very interesting game! I ticked 'buy now' and it took my over-eager brain a second to realize it wasn't released yet lol. I love the mapping so far, as well as the personal touches added to some of the tiles! A mystery-based storyline is always a winner for me, so I'm really looking forward to playing this! Nice job!    :thumbsup-right:

If you have a support bar for the project, I'd love to drop it in my signature~

Looks great! Especially the mapping! Did you create the tiles sets for the grass areas?

The story is very important to me - making player bored is probably the biggest sin possible :p Speaking of maping itself, we've decided to go 100% into parallax mapping and not to use a single tile in the editor. This allowed us to add more details - for example, one of your locations contains roughly 3600 layers and weighs over 400 MB (uncompressed) ;)

And yes, we have a tiny userbar and a bigger signature picture if you wish :) Thanks for your support!

I'm sorry, as I stated above - all graphics are made outside of the editor, therefore we didn't create tilesets. It would be a very difficult task to create a grass autotile, since it's made with multiple blending layers. But if you're interested, I can look into it after the release.

    Thanks! :)

We're extremely busy ironing things out before the release, but we've got something for you too! :) Check out another track from our OST, composed by Richard Wurth:

Actually it is available on Steam since Jan 20 ;) It is being listed as a DLC, and delivered in .mp3 320 kbps + FLAC formats.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if the soft, blurred shadows would fit, as some people argued they're breaking the rules of pixel art.

This is both a beautiful looking game and a really interesting mechanic. I've never been a huge fan of it mostly because it makes me anxious every time (*coughcough Majora's Mask), but I may have to give up my prejudices against strict time limits to check this game out.

To be honest, I don't know. Our current plan is to translate Crudelis into Russian (which we've been struggling with for the last few months) and to deliver a limited, physical edition of the game. Also, we are prototyping our next game, but it's too early to get into details ;)

Thanks :) It took over 3 years from the very first concept, but at the beggining it was just a side project. After a year I quit my previous job to put a full steam into Crudelis, and since then we needed 2 years to finish the game.
