So, I'm using a basic turn based battle system for my game, but I want the battles to feel different than a normal turn based game.
I've come up with a couple of "Add-On" ideas, and was hoping the community could come up with more cool ways to change up the battle system. Here are the ones I've come up with to get things rolling!
3 Platforms
After you've made your selection (attack, use a skill, etc), the game requires you to move to 1 of 3 platforms.
The enemy has an attack that hits 2 out of the 3 platforms, and during the battle, you need to figure out what rules their attacks follow to choose the right platform, and stay alive.
Changing Elements
At the start of each turn, a random element is decided. The player takes and receives double damage from this element during their turn, and the enemy's turn.
Burden of Health/Burden of Mana
Using Basic Attacks and Skills drains health, and more mana respectively, causing you to be extra cautious when choosing which abilities to use.
