Custom Music, Themes [Closed for Now]

Hi everyone,


I'm new to the community although I've played with RPG Maker for a couple of years now. My background is programming, but I'm interested in trying my hand at being a composer, professionally.  Lacking enough experience in that, I thought I'd start by posting here to see if anyone is interested in some custom music.  I've included my SoundCloud page to give you all an idea of what I've written, previously.  I can probably take on 3 or 4 to start out with.  Hope to hear from you all soon.  When requesting, please include:


1. Name of song (if necessary)


2. Approximate expected length


3. Final output format (wav, ogg, mp3, etc)


4. Any examples of similar songs would be appreciated


5. Description of what the piece will be used for and what you'd like it to convey

Hey @xelius, nice stuff! I listened to a few of your tracks out of curiosity and I really like what you've got(Especially 'Belle'. I have a weak spot for guitar music like that). This workshop is new, so don't give up hope! Give it some time, promote yourself a little, and people will come by. If you want something to work on, I could definitely put in a request! You really have a lot of talent.

Thanks for the encouragement @ThePotatoOfFire   I appreciate it! Belle was a quick cover of a Jack Johnson song I put together (took a couple hours) for fun when I got some new gear to see how well I could record acoustic instruments. I've kept it on my SoundCloud just to showcase some more live instruments. Thank you again!

Okay, I can't resist. Don't worry about doing it quickly, my project is a long way from really needing it.


Name: For the World, unless you come up with a title while composing it.


Length: 2-3 minutes at most, it doesn't need to be too long


Output: Preferably .ogg


Example: The Man with the Machine Gun (Final Fantasy VIII) or Seymour Battle (Final Fantasy X).


I want to use it as the boss battle theme, and also as the second-to-last battle theme. Feel free to take other inspirations, do what you think sounds good. 


As for what it should convey, I think there needs to be a little background info. Chronicle 7 has two main protagonists, and it centered on them for around the first 1/3 of the game, after which it starts to concern itself on the world and the protection of innocent people and, really, the main charcaters' struggles between right and wrong. So when I suggest the title For the World, it's kind of to symbolize what's really at stake with whatever battle the player is hearing this in.

3. Final output format (wav, ogg, mp3, etc) : OGG and mp3


4. Any examples of similar songs would be appreciated : Something similar to the first minute of your title theme. 


5. Description of what the piece will be used for and what you'd like it to convey : It will be used for the first title screen. The title screen and music will change mid game to something way more darker. The theme should not be happy, but not sad. Just a common calm music.

Let me address these in order.  First, I want to point out that it's okay to use these works in commercial projects provided that 1) you give me credit for the song, and 2) it's used only in one work (i.e. the current project you plan on using it for).  If you plan on using it in subsequent projects, I'm okay with that but let's have a separate discussion about that, please.  If you're not okay with this, please let me know.


@ThePotatoOfFire - Thank you for your request.  I think I have what I need for now.  I'll let you know if I need anything else and when I've got anything to share with you.


@InBlast - I will give it a shot and send you a roughed out version of what I'm thinking to make sure it's along the lines of what you were thinking


@Knayter - Sounds good, I will take a listen and also see about giving you the MIDI version too.  It should be possible.  I'll keep you posted.

Okay, @Knayter here's a really short clip of what I was thinking as the basis of your piece.  I know it's real short, but hopefully you can understand how it sets the tone of the rest of the song.  If you're happy with how this sound, I'll keep going.

That's amazing! I especially like that distortion at the end of the clip. It's going in a really good direction. You should seriously consider doing paid commissions!
