RPG Maker Forums

Sooooo....I've spent the last two weeks poring over the wiki and forums for this but as of yet have had no luck locating somthing that might work.  Honestly, it might not even be possible to code what I have in mind, but it doesn't hurt to ask, yea?

One of my favourite RPG elements that seems to be under-utilized is a town/base that is started and grown by the player.  The easiest two games to reference this are the Suikoden series and Dragon Quest 7, but what I have in mind is a little different.  With Suikoden the base grows based on elapsed story and character recruitment, whereas Dragon Quest is based solely on the amount and type of character recruited to the town.  What I'm wanting to do is have a town that can be fully player customized based on two to three recruitable NPC 'Architects' that send the player out on item collection side quests.  Here is the hitch:  There will be more structures that can be built than there is space in the town to build them, and I was also trying to work out a way that depending on which buildings were built, certain party-based stat modifiers would come into effect.  For example, say I wanted to build a library in my town.  I would first have to recruit the Architect NPC with the quest line, complete the quest for the materials, have a cycle for how much time will be taken to actually build the structure (base modifier placed on say, Intelligence) , recruit the NPC that would fill the role of the Librarian (add 5% to base INT modifier), and stock it with rare books found whilst questing (add say 1% per book) and eventing so that the books read out some type of backstory on the lore of the world I'm building.

As of yet, I've not found any single or set of code that can do anything like that.  Furthermore, I have absolutely no experience with Ruby (most of my coding experience is with C++ C# and JAVA) which doesn't help matters.  I'm teaching myself, but as I'm sure you're aware, learning a new language isn't easy, and I don't even currently know the limitations of the software.  See my conundrum?

So if anyone knows which codes could be combined for that type of build, or has enough experience with Ruby to make one, or has enough patience to guide me through doing it myself, I would really appreciate the help.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
