Custom sprite sheet sizing and formatting

In this tutorial, you'll learn how to size your own custom sprite sheet to work with RPG Maker MV engine. Also you will be familiarized with the engines sprite sheet file naming conventions.

(Free image manipulation software used in video: https://www.gimp.org/ )

Watch the tutorial again, pay attention to when I explain how your image has to have a width evenly divisible by either 3 for a single sprite sheet, or 12 for a full one, and height should be divisible by either 4 or 8 respectively. It's explained fully in the tutorial, it will be better for you to watch again, than for me to type it out in full detail here. I hope this helps :)

    thanks for your reply
yes I tried again with both making my sprite sheet 12x 8 size aswell as 3x4 size and also naming it .png and $ and ! with no success
I also notice when I name my sprite sheet .png at the end It can't be seen in data base.
I am trying to change the player character so I am saving my sprite image in the games 'characters' folder
I am trying to create a player image by clicking database
then on one of the list of actors
then in images I click the middle box of 'character:'
in the select image box that apears it will not display my sprite sheet to click on if it is named .png
can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?
the sprite sheet is definitely saved as png format
also no matter what size I change my sprite sheet to it only apears 48x48 size on the map???

at this point I just have no idea why it won't let me access images saved in my characters folder named .png on the end????
I've even seen videos of others saving their sprite sheets in the games characters folder named .png

this is why I'm willing to pay $30 US an hour for an rpg maker MV Tutor :(

ok I found my answer to one issue why it looked like it would only display 48x48 size

    https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/sprite-sheet-formats-and.63612/
"Also remember, if you make a sprite larger than the default grid size (32x32 for XP, VX and Ace, 48x48 for MV), when you use that sprite on an event in the editor you will only see as much as can be contained on a single tile. But it will show the full sprite when you play the game."

but I am still unsure why I can't select images named .png at the end?

No worries, I'm glad you figured it out :)

As far as seeing the file extension, I don't recall that ever being a thing personally. It seems irrelevant since, I believe a jpg file wouldn't show up on the list at all.
