@Necromus - Yea, I understand the resolution issue. That is a flaw of all RPG Maker games though. And of course, I would implement as many features as possible to maximize space. Things like auto-zooming onto selected card and cards performing actions and such, while other cards are shown at a smaller size.
Yes, from the start it has been treated as being a standalone system with a secondary battle system - using cards as battlers. All the databasing etc would take place within multiple script customization sections (which would obviously come with a complete documentation) so it can easily be used in tandem with any other battle systems you would be using in your game - if you wanted to use it as a mini-game ofc.
For me, it would be an advanced mini-game. Yes, a small sample project would be made to showcase the features and capabilities, but overall, it would be a mini-game in my eyes. I'm just one of those people who like a sense of realism in my mini-games. So having things like cards decaying over time/use makes complete sense to me, and of course, features like that will be optional so its completely upto the user as to how their own TCG functions.
If someone wanted to use it as a small collect cards / make a deck / battle various people type thing for a simple in game mini-game, that would also function perfectly. And if they want use of all features, it simply adds additional mechanics and such into the game
@Arin - Yea, all of those features you mention are things will be implemented. And of course, there will be many more features - some from other popular TCG's and some unique ones that are suggested / come to me whilst writing all the code
@Mrs M. Logan - I'm happy to hear that even though you had no plans for such a thing, that you have not discounted the idea of implementing it. The sample project would be easily transferred into any project you may have with ease and there would be full documentation on how to make it unique to fit your own game.
Additionally, because PVGames and Holder's battler images would be supported, as well as regular sprites - you would easily be able to tie in the cards with your own in game monsters. example: You beat ice slime via regular battle - you gain ice slime card for use in TCG - should your player wish to partake of course.
Also pleased to hear that you would consider donating towards such a project. Am I right in thinking you are saying : you would expect a copy of the project because you would have donated at a high enough level that the donation perk was 'a free copy' ?
I also think that people who help fund such an idea should be granted not only a free copy, but also the rights to see previews of the system in action and even be beta testers, depending on how much they actually helped the project of course.
Also @everyone - Here is a screenshot from when I initially toyed with this idea.
Obviously, the images shown are very basic. As it stands, the system has only had a few days (a week at most) worth of work put into it and I also had to make all the images and locate sprites etc to use - so not all the time was taken up with writing the actual code.
The reason I have linked this image is because it shows how much can actually be achieved with little/no effort on my part. The main thing that has put me off writing this system further is simply because of the lack of funding to obtain the required resources. And obviously, if I wrote it all myself and had to fund all the graphics and music with no additional help - I would likely just keep it to myself. I dont really want to do that though, I would much rather create a system that lots of people can utilize within their own projects and bring their own ideas to life with minimal effort
Kind of rambled on there a little, yea...
