I've been having a slight problem with the very beginning of my game lately.

At the very start of the game, you're introduced with a black screen and series of text giving a brief overall history/goal of your character's journey. After the said black screen, the playable character is then transitioned into a map that is his room. For the longest time I had the issue with the character popping up for a brief second at the intro screen and disappearing before the text scrolling beginning. Which, all in all, is considerably creepy and chops up the serious tone the game is suppose to give. Not a flattering bug.

In attempting to fix the bug, I've created a new problem. Not only did I not fix that issue, for some reason the playable character isn't even transitioning to the next map after the intro map like it had been. I had originally placed these two events in one consecutive event that autoruns itself. In trying to fix things though I've split them into different event pages with a self-switch to activate it. I'm having a hard time figuring out why my little guy isn't popping up, and why he's popping in way too early. Any help??

The Transparency on the System tabs in the Database is ON. Should I turn it off??

This may be the wrong question to ask, but why are you showing a blank picture?

Why not just use a blank map, have the character invisible, then when you're done - fade out the screen, transition to the new map, make the character visible, and then fade the screen in?

Or am I misunderstanding - (entirely possible!!)

I know this is over a year old. Only now looking at other threads members have posted.

The problem I found is that you have the transparency set to 'on' in your second event page. Change that to transparency set to 'off', and your character should not disappear anymore. But because you used it once before, there is no need to use it again.
Also, because you said you have player transparency on the database set to 'on', why do you turn it off at the very beginning of your event? If I understand correctly, you don't need the first transparency command at all.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
