Hello there, folks.


Let's say that I want to show an animated picture during cutscene, like a (picture with a full) room with the TV showing static (with the static moving). Is there a better way to do this or the way is creating a loop of show picture/wait/show picture while the dialogue is running?

You can use events to do this rather than using pictures.


Either use the room picture as a parallax background and have a character sprite for the tv, with the animating static as 3 frames across, or 4 frames down, or create a character sprite using the full room picture in the same way (the first option will be the more efficient).


Save your character sprite with $ at the start of the name, and make the width 3 times your picture (or tv) width, and the height 4 times the picture (or tv) height.


If you have 3 images across, just turn on stepping animation on the event.  If you have 4 images down, set up a custom autonomous movement route that turns from one direction to another (down, left, right, up) with a brief wait between each one.

@Shaz, using parallax or even the whole room as an event are something I haven't thought off! Thank you for sharing this options, they open up cool possibilities.

I would recommend the room as parallax, with just the tv as the event image.  Better resource handling (and an image for a character sprite that's large enough for the whole room might just be too big for MV to handle)

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
