Cutscene Character's Gender

So, I'm trying to make an intro cutscene where the player walks up, says hi to a character, then walks away while the camera stays on that other character. To do this, I was going to have theplayer be transparent and use an event character to act out the player in the cutscene. The problem is that I want the event character's graphic or actor to match the player's since the player would choose their own. Is there a way to do this without editing scripts and how?

I'm not really sure if I got that..

But the thing you can do is to use the player to walk up to the event, say hi while using the 'scroll map' event command, once the scroll map is at the correct spot (Centering the event that the player just talked too), then you just add a move command for the player (without a wait command) and let him walk off the screen while a wait command is in progress.

Edit: When I think about it, I guess the map will scroll with the player when he walks away. I know that I have used the a player move command while scrolling the map without any problems. I'm not sure if it will work when the map isn't scrolling though.

Right after character creation, the player is transported to the cutscene. I want the camera to not move when the player's character (that's what I meant when I referred to player) does. To do that, I made the player transparent and am having it move around for camera work. what I want is for the event character who will be the player in the cutscene to match actors.

When you make the player choose a character, turn on a switch for each individual choice.


In your event that is pretending to be a player, create an event page for each switch (tick on 'If Switch ... is ON' as the condition), and set the appropriate event graphic to the charactersprite that the player picked out.

Thanks, Celianna. That worked perfectly. Now I got an even bigger problem with the cutscene... do I need to make a new topic or can I continue it on here?

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
