At the beginning of my current project, I have a cutscene where a character is telling another character a story. While the character is telling the story, should I show the story happening in another cutscene? Or should I just get the character to tell the story in text boxes and not do anything else? Personally, I think that might be a bit boring, so any ideas how to do that? If it's even possible?

It's always better to show something rather than tell it.

It's not really another cutscene - just one with a narration going on :)

Oh I see! Thanks! Then how would I go about doing it?

It's just a cutscene - which is exactly the same as an ordinary event with a lot of commands.

If you need to use several different maps and have NPCs moving around, you'll need to break it up into several smaller cutscenes (one autorun event per map) because Ace, in its infinite wisdom, has decided that once you change maps within an event, you can no longer control the movement or appearance of events on any map but the original.

Give it a go then come back if you get stuck, with specifics about what you're trying to do and what happens when you do it. "Show me how to make a cutscene" is too open-ended for anyone to assist with.

Alright thanks! I'll give it a shot!

Okay, well I tried it and it mostly works, but there's this map where I have fog on and when I transfer the player back to the room where the cutscene starts, the fog is still there. So how do I turn it off after I transfer the player off the map that has the fog?

Fukur0u, please avoid double posting, as it is against the forum rules. You can review our forum rules here. Thank you. Edit your previous post if you've got something else to add.

When you say fog, do you mean you have a custom script that lets you show fogs? Or do you mean you used the tint screen command, and tinted the screen a bit foggy? If it's the latter, when transferring the player to the next map, tint the screen back to 0,0,0.

Is this "fog" controlled via script or through pictures?

If by pictures, simply place the "erase picture" command before your character transfers back to the map. If by script, try reading the instructions of your script for advice on how to turn it off.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
