Drake Skyline presents:

Missing Material Spider

Build v0.3

Original Day - 04.21.2015

Last Updated - 07.12.2015

Update Log: [NR] - Non-Release to Public / [PR] - Released to Public

v0.1 [NR] - Testing Build

v0.2 [PR] - Initial Release

v0.3 [PR] - Code Optimization & Stabilization

Description:

This script gathers all of missing files in-game and records them as it indexes them. It works in the sense of a spider bot, as it logs the missing data while categorizing it based on it's type. It will also inject a blank file where the missing one is to prevent the game from crashing.

Hello everyone,

I've updated the script a little bit to tweak a couple of methods. I'm also using GitHub to store my repository instead of a personal site. Oh, also, the build number was rolled back to v0.3 because I wanted to use major builds as a new feature indication. Hope you all enjoy it!

Does this work by searching when the game is loading, and sending its message then, or is it as each individual map is loaded?

Hi ksjp17,

It searches during the initialize phase of Audio and Sprites, so anytime you call something in-game this will check if that file is missing by displaying the path the game says it was last located in. It's more or less if your testing it during a cut scene and you were missing a sound effect or changed a sprite name but forgot to edit it inside the engine.

Thanks for the clarification.  My current project is more or less wrapped up, but I shall keep this in mind for the next one.

I am finally done making the 'superbosses' in my game!
I'm happy because oh my gosh they were a lot of work, but I'm also sad because I love database work... And also because I loved making stupid powerful bosses ._.
Question for anyone who reads Slip into Ruby or Jump into Javascript: do I sometimes get too "explainy" with the methods/functions? Would it be more useful if I stuck to explaining what the code is doing rather than also delving into minutiae of the technical side of it?
That moment when you try to figure out a color scheme for an alien ship so that it's something other than "Grey on Grey".
It's up for viewing! See what happened when EquestriAlert got tested in 1997... or was it a test? Did somepony hack the system? Or did somepony push the wrong switch? Even Adagio Dazzle (the owner of the channel) has no clue.

Can you put the pieces together? Don't worry, the game isn't over yet! There's more pieces to add on!
