I am frustrated.
Very much so.
Anyway onto why. I have a character who uses Almighty skills, and the formula for this particular skill is (a.mat * 2) - b.mdf.
My actor (Jackst3r) has 191 MAT, and my enemy has 25 MDF.
This means the skill should do about 357 damage, right?
Wrong apparently. It's dealing 100-111 damage.
For context on Almighty Skills, they are from SMT, and they have no element. Basically just nobody resists or is weak to them.
Can someone explain this? At all?

Could you show us a screenshot of your skill in the database, of your enemy, of your troop (containing that enemy) and of your actor gear?

It would depend on variation percentages and if you have any level scaling. You could always try breaking down the formula for testing and just have the formula as 357 to see if it produces that result.

There's a various factor that changes the final value of the damage
  • Physical damage rate (PDR) or Magical damage rate (MDR)
  • Variance
  • Element Resistance
  • Guard flag
To test if nothing change the damage value, try to use a flat number like you literally write 100 in the damage formula. Check if it is actually deal flat 100 damage.

Scripts/Plugins (like armor scaling plugins) can also change the numbers a lot. @TheoAllen's idea is very good - whenever you're getting damage numbers you don't expect, trying again with a flat number like 100 will make the issue much easier to diagnose, so let us know what happens when you do that. Giving us the screenshots that @Heirukichi asked for will help a lot, too.

Okay, so I looked into these suggestions and I know now that it was one of my scripts as Wavelength has suggested, and I know what was going on with the calculations, and the script that caused it. I might post something on script requests to find a similar script that doesn't break the calculations though. ( If your curious, it was Dekita's stat control/skill proficiency, and it was only reading the Actor's Magic Attack, and not including the weapon's. )

Oh yeah, quick apology, sorry for being so rude with the post.
Thanks for the help, without these posts I would literally be lost, and that makes me feel a little stupid, but also glad people are so willing to help. And sorry again for the waste of time this has been-

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
