Brummwiesel is about to get lost in a place that combines reality and dream.
What is this world and how did he get there? Can you help him?

Nothing's unusual. Nothing's spectacular. You could say that Brummwiesel stagnates.
He lives a life that he doesn't desire but can't escape, either. Everyday life makes him a
container for emotions that he needs to hold back. Just when he realizes that he can't
go on like this any longer, he finds himself in a strange world that is not too far from
reality. But is this still reality? Brummwiesel will need to find out soon, because
his stay here seems to be limited. In this foreign world, Brummwiesel travels
everyday. He's on the journey of his life. Lastly, everything's unusual.
Everything's spectacular. Nothing's right!​

Hi all

After quite some time, there is finally an update! The game is currently progressing well and finally, I can show you a short demo version that introduces you to the game's story, feeling and gameplay.

You can take a look at (full version's) ingame story and gameplay scenes by watching a new trailer on YouTube (see video above).

In the demo version, you can play 2 different levels, the office and the construction site.

There's an update again, and it's quite a big one about my plans for the future

Dark and Bright is almost finished! The thing I still need to work on a lot is the translation of the game so that it will be available in German and English, which will still take a while. Nevertheless, I submitted the game to Steam Greenlight to reach a wider audience in the future (and to use this last chance to make it onto Greenlight before it will be replaced).

However, the game is almost finished and there's only a tiny bit of translation left. I'm eager to present the full version soon!

Fantastic news! I've only learned about Dark & Bright today so it was too late to vote, but I'm glad it finally met the required quota. It's always great to see a unique RPG Maker project like yours making its way on Steam. Some bold and original visual style you have there Roiber, take a bow!

May I also suggest working closely with native English speaker so you could make your vision as sound and meaningful as it is in German, especially if you plan to sell it. It would be nice if you could make it appear more fluent. You could also translate the names of protagonists so they can be more relatable to those of us who don't speak German. Brummwiesel could be Grouchweasel/Grouchbutt, Tunichgood - U. Undergood/Knotgood and so on (according to whatever was the original idea behind the name).

PS: I found the demo a bit lacking in clues. I couldn't get to the closed area in the upper left corner of the office so I didn't finish the first mission. I would appreciate some sort of additional help/hint system or guidance (or a lower difficulty level for the special weasels like me). My hardcore days are long gone I'm afraid, I just don't have that much time/patience anymore. Still I had a good time playing it. Apart from the cool graphics the music is very pleasant and fits great. Keep us updated!

Thanks a lot, it's great to have some feedback on the demo! Actually, I just updated the demo version yesterday, so a new download is available on my website. I improved the gameplay a bit and voices were removed.

Thanks for your suggestions! I did not think about changing the characters' names yet, but I'll do! I agree with you here.

If you really mean the upper left corner, it can be reached just with Brummwiesel's hover ability. However, the upper right corner is only accessible when Tunichgut is a member of the party already. You'll need his invisibility here so that the secretaries don't notice you.
But don't worry, the full version provides players with a more detailed tutorial

I'm happy to announce that Dark and Bright has finally got a release date: November 29th!
You will be able to get it on Steam, Itch.io or my Website.


The game's development was finished many months ago, but I have still been working together with native speakers on the dialogs until now, and I'm quite happy about how the game turned out to be. Many things have changed since the demo. Most of them were small improvements of the gameplay, resulting in a fairer experience for the player. Feedback on the demo and Let's Plays have told me that the game was quite difficult (especially for people who are not familiar with RPG Maker mechanics) and I tried to change that. The levels of difficulty were changed and improved, enemies don't attack you immediately, you can now save money (and lose less when dying) and so on. All in all, my aim was to offer the player a fair and motivating game experience.

If you still want to try the demo to get a first impression, you can still do so via Itch.io.

I've worked on this for almost 3 years now and I'm happy to see how the game turned out. Thanks to everyone who helped me, commented or mailed me, played the demo and helped to improve the game.
