So I'm working on a new game lately, and I downloaded some new icon sheets and changed up the enemy stats and so on. Played around with the database. Then recently, I decided to check out a game I made a good while ago, and when playing it I realized the icons and enemy stats I used to make that game had been replaced by the database I am currently using for my new project.. How did this happen? When I exported my old game, I included the RTP Data so my friend could play it too. I thought this made it sort of a stand-alone. I am so incredibly confused and upset that my first game seems to be ruined or overwritten :'(  Is this a steam cloud issue?

I'm sure my friend is able to play the game the way it was made because she doesn't own RPG maker.. or any of the custom icon sheets ect. Please help.. this is making me scared of creating new projects as it seems to interfere with my already saved games  ;_;

It means that instead of placing the data into the project folder, you had it replace the RTP in its original folder.

Copy and move your current RTP folder (the one where you placed the files), reinstall the RTP (can be downloaded from the run-time-package download top right) and then copy your new files into the project's folder where you want it - use the resource manager if you don't know how.

And after that, don't mess with the RTP but place the files in the project folder - if a project folder has a file of the same name as an RTP folder, it takes precedence without messing the RTP for other project.

Thank you so much for replying. I still had the default icon set laying around, window ect. So I changed everything back to the defaults. Now my old game seem normal. But that means that the custom icons+window ect I used for that game, was never included in the exported folder? You have to place them in there manually after exporting your game?? I followed a tutorial that taught how to export the game so anyone without rpg maker could play it. And that was done by checking off "Include RTP Data" as far as I recall.

How should I go about exporting my new game so that all custom icons, window frames ect is included? I appreciate your help a lot, thank you, Andar.

You mixed up two different folder paths, that's all. Everything you should have done in the project folder yu did in the RTP folder instead.

For starters, open the project where you want the changed icons and windowskin. Then open the resource manager while that project is visible in the editor.

Now use the resource manager to import the iconsheet and the windowskin where they belong.

Use the resource manager for importing, and it will go to the correct folder.

And those are the folders where you have to copy the RTP to if you want to export your game without the need to install RTP on the player computer as well.
