LEGEND OF THE INFINI

Download Link

Hi!

I am working on a DBZ-esque epic RPG. By epic, I simply mean it is a long game (over 10 hours already!), which follows the traditional hero's journey plot motif. I plan for the game to be about 20 hours long when complete.

What I seek:

Someone who enjoys creating enemies, skills, and balancing fights. While I've done my best to balance the first half of the game's fights, I feel it could be soooo much more fun to play with additional help in this department.

I am looking for someone to add mechanics and flair to the battles, and help create more enemies for the second half of the game. Need more clever/varied enemy skills, and better balancing in general. The second half of the game has ZERO fights in it, so much work is yet to be done.

I need more player and enemy skills in general. There's only so many times one can fight an enemy who casts 'darkness', 'fire II', and 'wind' before the game becomes dull. Preferably there would be 4 tiers of each element, each with a different animation I.E. 'Fire', 'Fire II', 'Fire III', and 'Flare'. What I am really at a loss for is having different animations for each of these, bc RPG Ace seems to only come with ~2 of each element!

The game features DBZ battle mechanics such as super saiyan transformations and chi attacks. They are working quite well as I have them implemented currently, but it needs more work. I need the player to have more overall 'Chi Attacks' to choose from and upgrade througout the game.

Additionally:

I accept help in all areas of the game except for plot and music choice. I'm rigid on those two aspects, but I'd love help on any other aspect of the game.

The major challenge I'd say is the sheer number of enemies you need to program to have a full length 20 hour game. That and needing more spell/chi attack animations. If you feel you can help with this, please respond below, or email:

Synopsis

Live the lifespan of the Infini, a prophecized warrior and super saiyan with the most powerful and evil archenemy you can possibly imagine. Mature with the Infini as he rises from a helpless 3 year old child living on modern day Earth to a mythical warrior capable of harnessing more energy than entire galaxies.

During the hero's journey, you will encounter a huge variety of familiar characters and settings under new contexts. That's because Legend of the Infini is an assortment of basically EVERY video game, tv show, and plot motif that influenced me as a child. It is a hodgepodge of every fantasy I consider great, in ADDITION to many new characters and environments.

The setting begins on Earth in the year 1973. While Earth is represented as the same Earth we are all familiar with, there is an entire universe out there waiting to be explored. You will encounter a huge variety of natural and supernatural environments, including space itself and and the capitol of the universe, Illumina. You will also be traveling between 'dimensions' as Dragonball Z's Ocean Dub put it.

Somewhere deep in space, on a planet separate from Earth known as the "Z" planet, the heroes Goku and Vegeta from Dragonball Z grow restless due to a long era of peace. It is over 100 years since the events of Dragonball Z, and no villain has been strong enough to challenge the Super Saiyans since. That's all about to change! You will quickly discover a looming threat that may very well be the catalyst for the end of all time.

This game blends traditional SNES era Final Fantasies with Dragonball Z, The Christian Apocalypse, Star Fox, Breath of Fire, Zelda, Chrono Trigger, Dante's Inferno, Secret of Mana, Dr. Who, Everquest 1 (there's a huge treat for EQ fans in there), Quest 64 (there are, believe it or not, a few good ideas in this game), and even my dreams of rock-stardom.

This game includes EVERYTHING that I think is awesome, and I hope you enjoy the journey as much I as I enjoyed writing it!
Characters

Jace

The Protagonist. Begins as a young child orphaned on modern day Earth who matures into a mighty Super Saiyan. He is prophecized by The Watcher to defeat Satan and harness the power of the Infini.

The Watcher

(Image would be spoilers)

Mysterious overseer of the Universe and prophet who foresees the coming of the Infini, Jace. He has many names...

Goku

Protagonist of the Dragonball Z series. Nearly a century has gone by since the conclusion of DBZ. He senses the startling appearance of a new Super Saiyan, Jace, and decides to become his martial arts instructor.

Vegeta

Friend and rival of Goku. He joins Goku in training young Jace, and becomes somewhat of a father figure for Jace.

Flora

Princess of the hidden Earth kingdom of Doria. She is somehow tied to the Prophecy.

Zerg

Captain of the Illumina Task Force. He introduces Jace to Illumina, Capitol of the Universe, and proves to be a loyal ally. He owns a spaceship capable of travelling between galaxies.

Gabriel

Archangel, and Jace's guardian. He is a messenger of God who guides Jace along the way.

Satan

The Antagonist. Trapped deep within Judecca, he plots to escape from his prison and launch an attack against the Universe and Heaven itself. The Watcher's Prophecy itself deals directly with Satan's escape.
Gameplay

1. Controls (editing this part out because you all know already)

2. Chi Attacks

The majority of your good attacks are "Chi Attacks", which cost TP to use. At the start of every battle, all player characters start with 100 TP, but can charge up to a maximum of 1000.

At first, you will easily have enough TP to not have to worry about it, but you'll quickly need to start paying attention as move costs increase. There are several ways of generating TP:

- Taking Damage (generates very minimal)
- Using "Fight" (Generates a small amount)
- Using "Dragon Fist" (Generates 50 TP)
- Using "Charge Up" (Generates 100 TP)

If you are not impressed with the strength of your Chi Blast technique, just wait.

3. Transform Mechanics

Since this game is largely based on DBZ, there will be a lot of Super Saiyan transformations in this game. You can transform only in battle by sacrificing some TP and your turn. At the end of the battle, you will be reverted to your normal state.

Transforming has many effects:

- Makes most of your Chi Attacks do much more damage
- Increases the TP cost of aforementioned Chi Attacks (more cost, higher gain)
- Increases physical attack
- Increases chance to dodge
- Increases defense (minor)

Be sure to use transformations wisely or you'll either waste a lot of time or get pwned.

4. Flying & Instant Transmission

Eventually you will learn how to use "Fly". All this does is essentially let you teleport to nearby areas. You can't leap across the universe or anything, but you can travel very efficiently once you've unlocked this.

"Instant Transmission", however, allows you to go virtually any location you have unlocked throughout the core events of the game. You won't be able to freely use this ability, however, until you are over 1/3rd the way into the game.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
