Like last month, aside from finishing the organizing of my collected assets to a point where I feel like I can start building my game, I'm hoping to find time for writing a lot of the game's story. Meanwhile I'm also testing various mechanics and editing assets.

More or less finished status menu window itself, now working on switching skills and equipment.
Also postponed working on the battle system to implement character & group build templates, hope to get it done before january.

Slow progress since last update:

Gameplay:
Got Road to Rodei 2 done and 3 started. Aesthetics to be done later.
Seles store updated.
Seles TC updated.

Under the hood:
Got weapons with gold prices down.
I’m sure I did another common event, but I can’t recall which one.

Major creative change now. I ended up using the metaphysic hook as an excuse to make a world-crosser outta my project - part divine record, part Chrono Trigger and... who knows what else I'll come up with. Including the world of origination and the one with the initial infusion that started the mess I now have like six distinct worlds:

  • I Alpha. Third rock. Origination point A.
  • XVI Bravo. Primary metaphysic watchpoint. Origination point B.
  • VI Delta. Point of infusion. Where the events that started this mess had begun.
  • Echo XXIV. Tribal origination world and a subtropical utopia.
  • XLII Sigma. Your typical ice world. Origination of the demonic tribes.
  • Omega LXIV. Volcanic world. Origination of wyvern and winged dragons.
Also there are two subworlds on VI Delta that also play a part, loosely inspired by their Dragon Quest equivalents:
  • Central Nadiria. The molten core. Comes into play during the endgame.
  • Deep Neptuna. Aquatic zone. Origination of the oceanic order.
Some names are subject to change, of course - but this is what I have tentatively decided on as of this update.

Slow progress again. Busy at work so Im tired.

A little more under the hood stuff:
Applied descriptions for a few more skills.
Made a few more states for their applicable skills.
Evented up shield removal for a skill type.

Edit: Double dosage of progress!
Fixed some skills.
Made the combat event for Storm (holy crap that took awhile!)
Got Prayer ready to go.
Got the Summon Skills ready to go.
Updated the Summons’ resistances.
Fixed typos

After some discussion in the Live Procedural Generation thread in the Game Mechanics subforum I am going to try out my own challenge, namely trying to create a short game from ten randomly generated dungeons. It'll be a mess but at least it will make me work with rpgmaker over the holidays. As for the main game I am working on I am taking a break after receiving some feedback after the third demo. I am going to let the project rest for a while and continue working with it at the start of 2020. In the meantime I am going to work on a few stories and narrative poems set in the same world as the game. The world I am building right now is something I want to explore both through games and other forms of media. Games have been the main focus so far.

Finally decided that it's time that I look into focus testing what I have to date so I'm planning on putting a call out to begin the new year. This will of course be under NDA unless stated otrherwise and I anticipate having the request posted by January.

IMPORTANT ELIGIBILITY RESTRICTION: In any requests I put out for this going forward (and I normally don't talk politics because rules) the uncertain state of affairs over AB5 means that I will not accept testing provisions from anyone living in California unless I specifically state otherwise.

Well, things are going good, almost done with the third level and finishing the other ones, meanwhile did some stuff for a tentative level, if i cant get it to work as intended i will use it as cutscene material.

  • Tutorial level is done, needs more testing tho:kaoswt2:
  • Intro cutscene added but need to add animations, move routes and the like so id say its 70% done, included an option to skip it :kaophew:
  • Level 1 is 60% done, level 2 is at 70% and level 3 at 90%, working backwards i guess :kaoswt2:

-finish setting status window check!
-finish filling weapons in database check!

Added a few tasks that needs to be fulfilled before proceeding to the final step: demo testing!

Halfway through my owl game, which went from a strategy game to an adventure game to a farming sim to a...farming RTS? I guess? It's just getting weirder.

Anyway might as well finish it.

12.18 Update: Semester is almost over so I did some game dev today.

Shipwrecked Progress:
-Added text for some of the searches
-Edited a map. Was stuck on it so got some feedback on how to fix it

Other Progress:
-Well, guess what I started up today:

Yep, the sequel to The Book of Shadows. I wrote the dialogue transitioning to this game and set up the starting party. And you can see who one of the new members is here as well, and her new class, though note she is on a placeholder faceset from the MV generator for now.

I managed to successfully prototype hero creation process for my wRPG project. And now I'm implementing automated version of it so that I can spawn the default party with one click.

I've been getting quite a bit of work done!

Progress:
Finished designs for playable characters+for other characters.
Voice acting for main characters.
Completed the story and dialogue for final scene.
Boss Sprites.
Started planning optional extra scene.

I might post some new screenshots on the thread.

@Lihinel love the UI-design! The system looks very involved, I'm intriguied :)

@Lilly Wow did you do the voice acting and the character art? Amazing :) I would check the UI-font again, because it doesn't scale very nice (the edges are a bit too sharp) and I would darken the background a bit more in the second screen to improve readability.

@Dust Glad you like it, the system draws a lot of inspiration from Pkmn (Games and TCG) and Guild Wars 1.

@Topic:
Skill and Equipment sections of the status menu are done.
Still working on the battle system, but nothing too fancy to show right now.
Stretch goal for the month is to get character and group build saving and loading done.

I Hate @Andar Partially Because Of he said this if People are Talking about VX (Not Ace):.VX is the worst version of the RPG-Makers as it had only one tileset and is missing many features to improve the game development. It is a very bad choice to base a new project on.
It seems to me that I'm too lazy to make new MZ plugins with my full time job, so I'm porting my easy, simple and small MV plugins instead.
I hope I can port 1-2 such plugins per day, but this will be hard for me :)
