Should I improve what I have, or should I make more content?

Thanks!!! Stay tuned for the next update, it should be released today! You'll have to restart your save game after the update :|
The demo ends after (SPOILER ALERT!)
talking to the intelligent alien.

The moment you've been waiting for! I have finally overcame my laziness and decided to release it!
:XP1D:
The new update is out! The biggest and best version yet! Lots of changes. Here they are.
  1. First of all, download was changed to an RAR file. This is to speed up the download and make uploading easier, and RAR files are smaller.
  2. Characters were changed dramatically. See the main post for what I mean.
  3. An error was fixed in battle where both enemies would flash instead of just one.
  4. Windowskin was changed.
  5. New scripts, including a smooth cursor and camera!
  6. Removed free movement. You can still walk diagonally.
  7. Changed the spaceship layout a bit.
  8. Got @Jchurch9 helping with my dialogue. Some of the dialogue has been changed thanks to him!
  9. Fixed a collision error or two.
  10. Fixed an error with the enemy scan ability that the second character has. It will now show the elements the enemy is weak to!
  11. Fixed a very small glitch for the armor descriptions.
  12. Enemies may now drop upgraded armor. It is a very rare drop, but the boss will always drop one suit!
  13. I made so many changes that I think I forgot one or two. If you see any others, remind me!
I really hope everyone enjoys the new updates, and happy playing!

Hex approves. I died once I reached the dragon thing, but there was a bit of a glitch, I think. One of the characters was still walking while dead. Also, I think Andromeda is in need of a couple of sandwiches.

A new update is here.
  1. Changed more dialogue. The intelligent alien now has far better dialogue!
  2. Added a couple of alien eggs.
  3. Changed alien world music.
  4. Added an anti-lag script. Since putting it in, game moves a lot smoother.
  5. Added a sound effect as words are added in messages. Sounds a lot better.
Hope you like the new update!
NOTE: Game is still an RAR and will stay that way.

New Credits: Ms Littlefish

OMG! I love the character redesigns! Trying out the new demo! ^^

EDIT:

I can see lots of improvisations on the mapping and the dialogues! Great job! The new character appearances look amazing and are more fitting to the overall theme now. xD

Keep it up! :D

Thanks!

EDIT: For those who want to know why I am not using tint pulsing (@Guiguimu and @hiddenone)- it causes a whole lot of lag. A whole whole lot. I tried it already. So I don't think I will use it.

Next update. Really excited for this one!
  1. Changed alien world map. @Rabosion made it!
  2. Changed animations. They look really good, and are a paid DLC.
  3. Changed a couple of skills.
  4. Changed the Heat Vision skill to Scan, and it now lowers defense.
  5. Changed the elements.
  6. Changed the weapons of the characters.
  7. Added a treasure chest in the small cave area. It holds a weapon.
  8. After the intro cutscenes, a HUD now displays. It displays things like HP and location. Credits to Galv.
  9. On the keyboard, A and S can now be pressed to change what actor is in front. Credit to Tsukihime.
  10. Changed game name.
  11. Changed support banner.
I have a nagging feeling I forgot something else. But I don't know what it is :guffaw:
Let me know what you think.

Hey, I just played the demo and I gotta say, I'm a total sucker for sci-fi RPG's with a bit of an anime feel. You can blame Phantasy Star Online/Star Ocean for that haha. I took some notes on my playthrough-- details in the spoiler below:

Precaution: I jumped right in without reading other peoples' posts, so if I already put notes that you've already seen on previous posts, forgive me.

Notes:
  • I'm liking the idea of earth being destroyed as a premise. It gives an open-thought about possible space opera-ish storylines and subplot.
  • Great art style! Also, the aesthetics and music blend well!
  • The animations are also great. It's a PERFECT FIT for the sci-fi feel. I was actually thinking of buying those too for MV.
  • I love the characters already. Each one seems to balance one another in terms of personality and inner banter. I'm a sucker for those haha. So far, Pandora is my favorite.
  • When I first saw the HUD, I thought the game was going to be an ABS. I think it's not necessary to have a HUD unless it's for a world map, but the decision it all up to you.
  • The placement of characters and enemies within the battle phase seem a bit too low. Not sure if that's intentional or not.
  • Battle system's pretty generic, but that's to be expected. It's a popular choice so there's no problem with that! I do like the skills though, it seems like it gives each character a role in the party, which in return, gives more room for rebalancing, future early/mid/endgame meta, etc...
  • Too short of a demo. Literally too short. I was expecting more, but oh well. So long as it shows everything there is to offer, I'm sold for future updates!

Yup I know the demo was too short. I am adding more content now :) I've mostly been focusing on improving what I have.
I like the HUD a lot, I think it looks good for a game with a lot of exploration. Maybe I will remove it though, not sure.
Glad you liked the skills, animations, art and music :D
The placement of characters there was intentional.
I like the characters as well :)
So I'm happy you liked what I have :D and more content coming soon.

A new update is here! For those who have been wanting more content, there is some more at last :D As always here is what is new.
  1. Added more content, including fabulous dialogue from my writer :)
  2. Changed one sound effect.
Might not seem like much, but I wanted to quickly add more content. What do you think about it @Starmage?

Okay, have just finished the new demo! Here is my feedback so far.:

- Mapping was improved and new stuff was added, kudos to that!
- New Character HUD is really cool, and I like how you can see the X and Y coordinates, really useful for a sci-fi setting.
- New plot continuations from the older versions, it's starting to get intriguing.
- New battle animations that look cleaner and smoother! (I suppose this was already added before, but I've only tried the newest version now.)

Overall, the vast improvements from the last demo that I've tried are really making this game step a new level. xD So keep it up, Thomas!! Continue with the great progress! :D

Another very small update - I changed the game's icon. After extracting the RAR you will see two files - a folder called Game Files and a shortcut with the name Delta Origins. Double click on the shortcut - not the "game files" folder - and the game will open with the updated icon! Credits for the icon go to wanderer_arts, his icon(s) are here. https://wanderer-arts.deviantart.com/art/sci-fi-icons-set-336696015 Tell me if I was silly and I uploaded the old RAR file :)
