Synopsis :

Izumi Momo was helping her best friend who had moved to a new home in Kuro City. Later, she received a call from her brother, asking her to go home immediately because their mother had fall ill out of sudden. Yumi sent Momo to the Kuro Subway's station at the outskirt of the town.
It is a full red moon that night, and unbeknownst to Momo, it is a forbidden time for any human beings to step their foot into the station. But since Momo isn't from Kuro's City, she isn't aware about the horror that lurks in the station, as well as about a certain train, which only appear during the full red moon. Feeling so worry about her mother well being, all Momo really want now, is a ride to go home and it seems the only train that available that night is the H-666 train. 

Another survival horror game which takes new level and atmosphere. Game play contain mix of challenging puzzles solving, run and chase event and speed restore mechanics (where your speed will be reduced when you pick wrong choice or get attacked by few enemies). Tons of self-design monsters/ghost sprites to lighten up the horror.
World development : 

Takes games place in a large Subway station before moved to the train.

Character bios :



1. Izumi Momo.
 


 

Status : Alive. 
Type : Human. 
Age : 25 
Background : Momo may look timid, shy, a cry baby type & lack of confident are her weaknesses. But she will try her best in overcome any obstacles & able to calm down in desperate situation. Momo is kind hearted & has a caring side to others. She also loves her mother dearly and truly worries about her current condition. 


2. Takamura Yui.



 

Status : Deceased. 
Type : Dead spirit. 
Age : Actual age (55 years old.) 
Background : A train conductor of H-666 train who in charge for wondering spirits's C- class carriages, start from 1st carriage to 10th carriages. Yui unable to recall back of what had happened in the past 30 years ago when he is still alive, since his memory had been taken & preserved in a 'judgement' book. However, he still remembered about his father & young brother, John. 


3. Jiyoka.



 

Type : Jester demon (2nd ranked demon.) 
Appearance : 7 feet tall, wears a porcelain mask with happy expression carved on it & two small bells tied to each side bangs. 
Age : 1500 years old. 
Background : Jiyoka is another train conductor who takes care the C- class carriages for Akuryos's starting from carriage No. 11 to No. 25. He also in charge for B-class carriages as well. At the beginning, Jiyoka didn't show any real threat but later on, he starts to hunt Momo for her valuable soul. 
Jiyoka carries deck of enchanted cards that can be either used as weapons or for other purpose, like expanding room twice than normal size or attaching the room to other dimensions through the cards.

Densha soul part 1 is now released! Part 1 contained complete route for normal/bad ending. True ending route isn't complete in this version for I had put HIATUS status for it development for some reasons that can't be avoided & I'm kinda losing my spirit for now. Sorry for the inconvenient.

For now, I declared it as complete. If somehow you wished to have a sneak peak of true ending route which is just 60% completed, here the conditions/tasks that you must done.

1. Find white mask. 
2. Find small baby statue & complete Ha-ha story. 
3. Peak into the crystal ball in witch room. 
4. Accept Yui offer to teleport you to the exit. 


Once done, then you will see someone in carriage 16th. Dismiss any of these four conditions will lead you to normal/bad ending route.

Looks good, however the bloody text (assuming its blood) is a bit too bright it looks more like an overlay than actually being in the world. Maybe saturate and/or darken it a bit more.

Thanks. We tried our best & gives everything we got into this one!

Looks good, however the bloody text (assuming its blood) is a bit too bright it looks more like an overlay than actually being in the world. Maybe saturate and/or darken it a bit more.
 

We did that on purpose. The main point is that player can read the message clearly and the brightness only applied to that words on the wall because it is a part from the story route, but for others blood spot or words in red will be more natural/darker.

 

Few days ago, I posted my screenshot design of ''inside of a train'' at the RMN forum and they are giving their thoughts and help which I am really appreciated very much (thanks guys!). So, this is how's the hell train looks like : 

 




 

A combination between train map tileset and windows effects does gives a blow and bring the feeling of having a train ride. I used free sources shared by Zanyzora (mostly 90%) from her site but we still needs to do lots and lots of editing to get one particular train tileset. We adds details on certain objects (moving curtains and chandelier, etc).

Just post some current progress on game play mechanics. We had inserted ''Black cat -The grim'' system (Example, a black cat will appear before deadly situation takes place as a sign for you to save beforehand). Also collecting medkit is essential since contact with certain enemy and wrong choice will reduce your speed (easy, just press D button to use medkit.)

Here an example of gameplay mechanism (puzzle + Run and chase event) as well as an advanced cutscene (WARNING-SPOILER ALERT). We borrowed soundtrack from vampire knight - Forbidden act mp3 since it quite catchy to this cutscene.





One last thing, even after this game is complete, we might not going releasing it yet to public. We are looking for few people to give it a first play and give some personal feed backs for us. Of course we will credits them as ''Game testers'' in credit page. And worry not, me and other team members had done run testing for possible bugs beforehand. Thanks for your support.

This is one of the latest  & last update of our work's progression (Taking some short break.). Adding some simplistic arts into cut scene with but with some touch to make it like an ''animation''.

This took us like 4-5 hours to be made, compared to puzzles and cutscene which could takes 2-3 days to be created for each. Arts will make like only 5% of the game since our main focus will be the game play and story route.

I have a feeling Jiyoka will be one of my favourite characters in the game. :3

Puzzle through arts. I've been thinking awhile on using art as part of puzzles in this game, & come with 2 satisfying results :

1. Death card games with Jiyoka (You plays this game with him after you refuse to become 'Mary Sue' for his drama scheme.)

2. Well, for this one, it will be a secret about what exactly going on but takes note that you will also play as Yui in certain part.

Nice ambiance!
I especially loved the train part. It was interesting speaking to the "people" and trying to understand what's going on.

As for critics, here they are.

Quite a lot of english spelling errors but I'm not in a position to correct you.

The text display speed is a little too slow for my taste. Anyway, it's possible to display it at once pressing Enter.

No sound at all during the intro with Momo and Yumi?
"kuro Subway"->is there a reason for the lowercase "k"?
No sidewalk for the pedestrian, a car parked in the middle of the road and a signpost planted in the road? That's a dangerous town to live in!
The sound effect for the car leaving is too long. We can still hear it several seconds after the car was gone.
The lights from the poles should be slightly shifted to the right (and down for a few pixels).

A horse statue? Looks more like a dragon to me...
I can walk through the sides of the fountain.

Ticket vending map:
The "map of Kuro City" is the entire world?

Subway café:
When you look at the Vanilla shake poster, it says Yumi instead of Momo.

Entrance of the subway station:
That bat slowing me down *each time* I go to that map is really boring. Once is enough ;)

Kitchen:
Pickup up the bowl leaves a black pixel on the table.

Park:
After adding the needle to the clock, the text window to set the time is truncated on the right.

Train, furnace:
The barrel is slightly moving a few pixels with each frame. I don't know if it's on purpose since the same thing happen elsewhere as well.

Cool idea having a new character to control!

The Ring reference!

Train, library:
The same as the fountain in the park at the station, I can walk on the sides of the shelves.

After solving this puzzle, I got teleported->
I can walk over the statues.

Dance:
The train is moving out of the rails.


General:
Having the character move so slowly after being hit is so tedious that it really motivates to avoid the monsters!

Ok thanks for feedback and the detailed critics. I was actually looking for proofreader for fixing grammar but it will do later. I will fix the passibility error of statues and bookshelves and some other parts that is possible. But screening through the critics, I believes you don't encounter any terrible bugs & glitches which is quit a huge relief for us. XD

Getting MC walking slow after get hit/attack by certain non-deadly enemy was my attempt to avoid using common 'instant death upon touch' that irked people often. But you still can regenerates the speed back by press D. Don't worry, I had put plenty med kits (Hidden & non hidden) in this game.

Just giving up an update of newest version of demo. First of all, for those who had tried the old version, I will prepared separated save file once the full version released, well in case you didn't want to play it again from start.

This is because there some minor changes made to demo version that include the game play itself. The major different between old version and newest version is the addition of few arts, fixed passibility errors, etc.

Also, take note if you still on old version and didn't make your way into the train yet, you can use this old save file on this newest version.

CRUCIAL NOTE : For those who tried this newest version and wish to continue from the point where they stop when full version is out, take note to create a save file BEFORE YOU TALK TO YUI DURING THE DANCING SCENE. Once the full version released, you can copy paste the old save file & reuse it.

Some quick update on games progress. Things runs smooth so far (71% done) and we decided this game will have 3 different endings, depending on certain conditions. Of course, certain endings will required some side quests to be completed. Here is another new character intro (''Ha-ha'' a.k.a ''mother of demons.'') who you will only encounter when one of the ending route is activated.




''Ha-ha'' will carry her child inside a basket when travelling to human's world for soul hunting. She will give her child (who will take form of a certain object) to her victims and told them that it will grant all of their wish. Before she leaves, ''Ha-ha'' will warn the souls not to listen to what her child might speak to them but unfortunately, none of the souls care about her warning.

Some update on game progress. I am almost done with normal ending route game play (90%) & halfway done with true ending route. When it finished, I will look for proofreader to fix the grammar issues with the main dialogue. I add some flashlight feature in this game but with some twist so player could have fun with the flashlight like pressing S button to reveal invisible enemy or turn it off to stunt Dolly the doll from following you!

In addition to this flashlight system, I am proud to present our hard work on another feature known as ''Nightmares dimensions.'' During your journey, you might get transferred into one of this inhuman worlds (See the video.) Each 3 of us create different world along with the nightmare sprites. It feels like we are making 2 or 3 horror games in a single project, lol. Since Yui got red demonic eye, we decide to put it into good use like use it to stunt enemies or reveal hidden doors in his game play part.




Note : One of my team member got inspired with crayon like world in Ib game so she created one. For my part, I think if we able to make it in this December around Christmas, this sweet world with evil gingerbread is what I am going to serve in full version!

The complete version, Densha soul part 1 is now released!. Just some important note on the gameplay mechanism. Some choices will affect the ending. For Yui part where you have to press S to use his red eye, take note that you can make the object of opposite side to fly toward you. You just need to stand in front of the object & press S. Scattering books on shelf or tables gives clues & help a bit with the story.

Avoid press D or S button during cutscene to avoid any possible bugs or glitches. If somehow, you given a try to true ending route & explore the past as James, exploration is the key to understand the story in the past. Talk to people & interact with the stage where James performed.
