I clicked deploy, I excluded unused files, I chose a folder, and nothing playable is created, every time. I've tried right clicking the game and sending it to a compressed zip folder, but that makes basically the same thing. How can I deploy a game so that someone can actually download it? So that I can even download it? I just see a bunch of nonsense here. I'm not an expert, but that's why I'm here. Could somebody help me out? Sorry if it's something totally obvious, no google search has yielded anything of help for me.

Deploying to MacOS from a Windows Computer is not easy and requires additional steps that are not directly possible under Windows, because MacOS has program properties that can't be handled under Windows.
Basically the folder game.app is your MacOS Programm, because all programs under Mac are folders that contain everything needed for the Programm.

Does the game work if you deploy to Windows?
If that deployment works then all you're missing is copying the game.app to a Computer running MacOS and correcting its settings there.
Unfortunately I can't tell you how that is done because I never tried it myself.

Are you trying to deploy to Windows? If you really meant to deploy to mac, then you can only run the game on a mac.

I just did that yesterday and sent a zip file of the export to my friend with a mac. He was able to play with no issues.

Deploying to a Windows exe is much easier, you can just run the exe to play the game after export. You just need to select Windows in that first screenshot you attached

I sent it to someone with a Mac computer. He said the file was only 1KB long and couldn't use it. I can get windows deployment to work, but web browser deployment seems to have the same effect: 1 KB, unusable. What am I not doing right? I'm sure there's some glaring oversight I'm missing.

Even in the screenshots oft your first post, the mac Programm (which is the entire folder game.APP) would be larger than 1kb, what did you send him?

If the Windows deployment works but not on web, then either you have files in your game that do not follow network tiles, or you're not copying the correct folders.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
