Greetings friends, for a long time there has been a project I have wanted to create. A game where the player can choose what course to follow. Where each choice you make, leads to more choices and consequences for your actions. A game with hundreds of different outcomes and endings, but to create such a game I believe it would take a long time on my own. Which is beyond my abilities at the present time.
To bring my vision to life, I have created this story in which you the forum members choose which direction the story takes at the conclusion of each chapter. I have been working on this project for several months in secret, and now it is the time for it to come to fruitation.
I hope you all enjoy my gift to you.

Prologue:

In the year, 3012, Earth died.
We had no choice but to abandon our home.
Once a race of billions, now only a few million of us remain. We are spread thin, scattered amongst the many stars of our galaxy. In our new home we are not welcome. Our neighbours see us a nuisance, unworthy of coexistence. Second class citizens without a world to call our own. Humanity has truly met it’s darkest hour.

Twenty-six years following these events, in the year 3038. Aaron Creed, a human scientist created a device called ’Second Genesis’. It’s purpose... To terraform Earth, to breathe life back into their dead world.
This device is humankinds last hope...


Chapter 1:


Our story begins deep in space, far from Planet Earth, in the year 3041 (Three years after the completion of ‘Second Genesis’) at the Human manned space station ‘Asylum’.
Captain Morgan Fox enters the office of Admiral Cutter.

Admiral Cutter: “Come in Fox. You know why I’ve called you here?”

Morgan: “Yes Sir. The ‘Ark’ is ready.”

Admiral Cutter: “So it is, the Ark is the best ship we have ever created, and you will be her Captain.
Every other ship we sent out to explore this Godforsaken space has never returned. However, your mission will not be exploration, but the safe transportation of ‘Second Genesis’ to Earth.
We are a dying race Morgan, this can reunite humanity. This is our last hope for survival, don't screw this up.”

Morgan: “I understand Sir.”

Admiral Cutter: “Very good.” Cutter hands Morgan a piece of paper. “This is a list of the crew available to you for this mission. You will pick seven to join your crew. Come back tomorrow and let me know your decision.”

Morgan: Yes Sir, thank you Sir."

Morgan leaves Admiral Cutter's office.

Reading the list of potential crew members, Morgan reflects on what he knows about each character.

Dr Keating:
Pleasant and approachable, Dr.Keating can keep a cool head.

Dr Reid:
Straight forward and to the point, which at times can seem harsh. But no doubt Reid cares for his patients health.

Forrester:
Forrester is a nervous character, who is best friends with Elliot, and he seems to have a soft spot for Ezri.

Ezri:
A strong adventurous character, Erzi will never back down from any challenge. But sometimes her curiosity can get the better of her.

Rowan:
Capable and confident, Rowan can get distracted easily by feminine partners.

Cutter:
A very sarcastic character, who at times can seem immature. He is the son of Admiral Cutter, and feels this entitles him to be captain.
He is very capable at any job he is tasked with.

Jaxon:
A pleasant guy, who won't let himself be pushed around by anyone.

Stryker:
A skilled military man, he always puts duty first.

Croft:
She is a serious character who thinks highly of herself.

Quinn:
A kind, insightful person. Quinn is a long time friend of mine who acts as a confidant to me.

Elliot:
Friend of Forrester, Elliot is the youngest recruit and probably the most kind hearted.

Brock:
Despite being a short fuse, Brock is someone you would want to have in a tough situation.

R.A.Y:
R.A.Y is a self-aware and sapient, Artificial Intelligent life form. She is designed to protect humankind.

How it works:

At the conclusion of each chapter (as shown above) you will be able to vote via commenting how the story will progress. The choice with the most votes will be how the story will progress. (1 vote per person)
But Beware! Your choices can produce rewards and/or consequences.

Oh, this looks really interesting! And a lot of fun! I see you have a post reserved so hopefully I'm not jumping too soon when I say that I hope you'll be posting some more thorough instructions on how this will work, how we participate, and what the end result is going to be. Is this more of a picture story, sort of like what is already posted, or are you making a game out of what we choose? (Because that would be awesome).

I'll make my choices soon after I hear a little more about the course this project is going. I actually really like the premise but for a touch of feedback, the procession of the dates is a bit confusing. It adds up as you keep reading on but it's confusing to start out in 3012 and have the next sentence say, "26 years later it's 3067." While it mentions 3041 in the next paragraph, do you see how the first bit is perplexing? I also got confused when it said the Second Genesis was completed in 3067, but then the next sentence said that 3041 was three years after its completion.

Whoops, good spot. Will fix that immediately.

Edit ~ Added a bit more detail to how the voting works. As long as hiddenones is able to she will be providing her charming art for each chapter.

The second post thats not yet filled will be a section for keeping track of your crew and ships status (supplies etc).

In regard to a game coming out of this, who knows what the futre holds.

Hi cabfe, although I haven't set a specific closing date for voting (as I have probably shown that i'm rubbish at sticking to set dates), i'm going to keep it open to voting for roughly a week, or less, depending on how quick or slow votes pour in. Once voting closes for the chapter we are on and I know which direction the story is headed in, I will quickly write up the next section in neat and will approach the all powerful hiddenone and request some more of her fabulous art that reflects the next part of the story.

I'm amazed more people aren't joining in on this, and not only because it seems to have taken a great deal of effort, but also because, this type of interactive stories are a great deal of fun. Anyone not familiar with them should take a look at MS Paint Adventures and then come back here and post. With that said: >Quickly retrieve arms from drawer! (yeah, lame reference is lame)
