RMMV Difficulty with Yanfly Weapon Unleash

So on paper, it would seem that Weapon Unleash is exactly what I need -- and people rave about it -- but I've not been able to get it working, oddly.

Here's my use case:

I have three actors. Actor 1 should be able to use Skill #1 basic attack just like normal. But Actor 2 I'd like to replace the Attack Command with a Skill, and Actor 3 I'd like to replace with another Skill. It doesn't make sense for these actors to simply be "attacking".

Looking at the help file for the plugin, it seems like all I need to do is add the following to the (I guess Actor's?) notetag:


<Replace Attack: x>

<Replace Attack: name>


I'm assuming the x refers to the Skill # I'd like to replace "Attack" with. I'm also assuming the "<Replace Attack: name>" is just another way to do this by referencing the skill's name instead of its number? Assuming I'd like Attack to be replaced with Skill #17 for Actor 2, would I just go into into Actor 2's notetag and add "<Replace Attack: 17>"? Or, if Skill #17 is called Cast Poopy, do I need to also put <Replace Attack: Cast Poopy>?

When I do one, the other, or both, nothing changes. I still have the default Attack Command for all three actors. I've ensured the Actor has access to that skill (they can choose it from their Skill Command), and I've experimented with plugin placement. I've placed it immediately underneath Yanfly Equip Core and moved it about/disabled other plugins.

Is anyone really knowledgeable with this plugin who might be able to shed some light? This plugin would seem to be kinda the answer to my prayers, I just need a nudge in the right direction :LZScheeze: :LZScheeze::LZScheeze:

Are you testing this through the Battle Test function in the editor? That doesn't always take into account new plugins you've put into the project. Always test new plugins by starting a new game.

Thanks, after turning off all plugins, I believe I have it working. I forgot I also had a Hime Actor Battle Commands plugin active from a long-ago attempt to solve this.

Still encountering some bugs and will test out thoroughly prior to updating thread. Please don't mark as solved yet! :LZSangel:

EDIT: Remaining bug solved. It was giving me a second "Guard" option for some bizarre reason, but erasing that skill and selecting another one solved things.
