"Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn". The FIRST game was bad enough. Why did they make a sequel? What were they thinking?! It's like having a cake covered with sh** and then just clumping even more sh** on top of it!

Oh I got another : Saints row 4. Unlike the Sr2 boomers, I actually really enjoyed Saints row the Third and all it's wackiness.
SR4 however leans way too much in the big and wacky, to the point it wrote the entire franchise into a corner and killed it. I found the superpowers kind of gimmicky and just made everything that makes saints row, saints row pointless. Not a terrible game but I don't think I'll replay it any time soon.

Why did you have to remind me that it exists.

Honestly though, I thought for the longest time people were just overexaggerating how terrible Sticker Star was because people on the internet are dramatic.

No. It really is that bad. At least Super has heart and amazing music even if it's just regular Mario Bros with extra steps.

My disappointing sequels have to be:

* Pokemon X and Y (and to a lesser extent, Black 2 and White 2 before it) - the reason being that Black and White were the closest Pokemon actually got to having good writing not just for its own series, not to mention they were the fastest paced Pokemon games combat-wise.

X and Y, though? They had some good ideas but the games themselves were absolute nothing burgers. That, and I don't think the visuals in general really survived the transition to 3D, they just got more tolerable over time. Pokemon was at its best in 2D.

* Wolfenstein the New Colossus - The less said about this one, the better. I don't know how they fumbled an otherwise good & compelling modern re-telling of an old FPS classic.

* Kingdom Hearts 3 - This game was mangled by its development and the pressure of having to pay off over a decade and change's worth of side-game content, and you can see it plainly if you play it for yourself.
I'm watching a longplay of Kingdom Hearts 3 right now and have only an hour left on it and it's been awesome, so.....

@RCXGaming Yeah…X&Y was 20 hours of “I see what you were trying to do.” The whole friend group thing was painfully bland and could have actually been SO cute. The story could have explosive but it all happened in the last quarter of the game so it came off as sudden and outlandishly extreme since there was no pacing up to that. Just a very sudden death laser and legendary big big man.

The music was good. The selection of Pokémon (especially in early areas) was good. Loved the introduction of custom clothes and the overall character design. But, it was all so blah and the complete lack of even improving the gen with “the fabled Z version.” I’ve never replayed this gen…

I love almost all the Spyro games, but "Enter the Dragonfly" was BAD XD

I like the "Legend of Spyro" series of games but about half of fans hate them,
so I guess they would count as "bad" sequels as well.

TOTK...not because I don't enjoy playing it, but because they acted like the Champions never existed. I thought that it was a lousy sequel to BOTW.

Reading this thread makes me feel better about not having ever finished X & Y ... I thought the location and dressing up was so cool! And I saw the friend group and thought, "hey this might feel like the Pokemon episodes!" ... then they just run ahead of you in every scene :kaocry:

I would LOVE another Jak game, but I wasn't really a big fan of how gritty things got in II & III

"Star Wars: The Force Unleashed" was a good game, but the sequel "The Force Unleashed II" was garbage. I also like the "Phantasmagoria" classic FMV horror series from Sierra (yeah yeah I know FMV games are nothing special anymore, but I still like them for some reason), and the first game was good. I also enjoyed the sequel "Phantasmagoria II A Puzzle of Flesh", but despite the fact I liked it, I do agree it was inferior compared to the original. Plus there were major problems with it, one being you had to use the main character's pet rat to get a key when in real life he could have just reached down and grabbed it LOL. XD

Double Dragon III: The Sacred Stones (NES)
NES_Double_Dragon_III_cover.jpg
The arcade version of Double Dragon III, subtitled The Rosetta Stone, was developed outside of Technos, so in hindsight a lot of the changes and lack of quality compared to its predecessors makes sense. The NES version if III however was developed by Technos, and with so many Double Dragon and Kunio-Kun games under their belt it's surprising that this game is so much of a dud. A lot of the complaints revolve around it being one of those games with "one guy, no continues" to
quote AVGN, but even once you get past that issue you're left with a game that doesn't control as well as its predecessor and whose combat is considerably less interesting. The previous games encouraged the player to learn how the enemies act and react in order to minimize their damage by using attacks and strategies that worked on each opponent. Meanwhile in The Sacred Stones you're best off just spamming the spinning cyclone spin kick because when you're enemies are much better about staying out of your range until there's an opening. They added in some interesting moves such as mid-air somer-assault and the double cycle kick, but when compared to the previous games you spend far too much time in the air, which means there's very little time spent doing combos or actually having to think.

Ugh!...Acclaim Entertainment....if I remember right, that was one of the publishers for the horrible fighting game failure "Rise of the Robots" here in the United States. Ugh...seeing that logo just brings that catastrophe to mind.

Acclaim was certainly a publisher more focused on quantity than quality. They ported some good games to console, as well as stuff that wouldn't have made it to America otherwise, but they also responsible for the awful Batman Forever game. I like some of their originals, like Iggy's Wreckin' Balls and Fur Fighters, and obviously the early Turok games were a hit, but there's just so much licensed garbage they were responsible for.

It's a blessing they went bankrupt in 2004 and were shut down at that time. Probably was because of all the crappy licensed games they made. The 3DO Company also made a lot of crappy games and they went out of business in 2003 due to poor sales of said games. Only games they made that people even liked were the "Army Men" franchise and "Might and Magic".

They (Acclaim) also made some really stupid business and marketing decisions. Listen to this from Wikipedia; I was laughing my head off at all this, especially the tombstone thing; who in the hell markets their crap by engraving their ads on somebody's gravestone?! XD Anyway, here is all is:

"During Acclaim's decline towards bankruptcy, the company made several controversial business and marketing decisions in the United Kingdom. One example was a promise that a US$10,000 (£6000) prize would be awarded to UK parents who would name their baby "Turok", to promote the release of Turok: Evolution.[27] A later investigation by VG247 found that all those who had reportedly changed their names were actors.[28] Another was an attempt to buy advertising space on actual tombstones for Shadow Man: 2econd Coming.[27]"

To promote Burnout 2: Point of Impact, Acclaim offered to reimburse any driver in the United Kingdom who received a speeding ticket. Following a negative reaction to this from the UK government, the plan was cancelled.[29] In the US, Acclaim suffered multiple lawsuits, a portion of them with former partners. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen sued over unpaid royalties.[30]

In the last iteration of the BMX series, BMX XXX, nudity and semi-nudity (e.g., full motion video of strippers and nude female riders) was added in hopes of boosting sales.[31] However, like most of Acclaim's video games during its final years, BMX XXX sold poorly, and was derided for its sexual content and poor gameplay. Dave Mirra himself publicly disowned the game, stating that he was not involved in the decision to include nudity, and he sued Acclaim for fear of being associated with BMX XXX.[32]

Another lawsuit was from Acclaim's own investors, claiming that Acclaim management had published misleading financial reports.[31]

Final Fantasy 13.

Hate this game with a passion. I have never been so disapointed with a sequel as much as this one. On another note, a lot of sequels that I disliked initially have aged like fine wine, I wasnt that impressed when Final Fantasy 9 and Wind Waker first released, but you could count those in my top 5 now!

Bad Star Wars Game.png

This isn't a sequel but it's still bad-how about "Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi"?

(Warning: not responsible if this post raises blood pressure to the boiling point. Not responsible for any heart attacks caused by a fit of rage at reading this post either.)

Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New world...except Tenebrae, he's cool.
That's a funny way to spell Decus.

But for real though, the plot I was actually on board with, it was everything else that sucked.

The Legacy of Kain sequel that never came. You finish the game with a cliffhanger ending at Defiance and willing to know what will come after.

Any game purporting to be the successor or spiritual successor or anything similar to the Wizardry franchise. Specifically the last 3 in the series, Wizardry 6, 7, and 8.

I have tried a few and maybe I didn't give them sufficient chance. But some of the immediate changes that I saw made my soul hurt and my inner child cry.

What about this monstrocity? Don't get me wrong; I love me some Sonic,
but this game has often been cited as one of the worst if not THE worst Sonic
video game ever made. I watched Chadtronic play through the entire game
for the XBox and it was SO freaking funny. There were SO many glitches
that just completely broke the game.

I’m so lucky! Simone got referred to a feline cardiologist and had I not called this morning the moment there was a cancellation the next opening would have been SEVEN months from now! The other heart hospital would have been on the other side of Michigan. Who knew that animal specialty appointments were also terrible to get!?
Scalemail project is one step closer to completion. Ordered scales from a local metalworking company, ordered some split rings... now all I need is to wait. :>
And pray that the split rings will be flexible enough to handle that.
