I thought I remembered seeing a Plugin like this already existed, but I can't find it if it does.

Basically,  when moving the cursor over the different options in the show choices command, you could set a message to be displayed giving information on the choice, before the player selects it.

In a message window at the bottom of the screen is fine.

What if it just replaced the existing message that's currently displayed?

So it's like the speaker saying something depending on which option you're hovering over?

This may not be exactly what OP wanted, but I like the idea of having an extra window (preferably at the top as an option at least) that changes text depending on which choice is currently selected.

Since the built-in choice length in RPG Maker MV is limited, you could think of the choices as paraphrases and the extra window as extra information about the choice, like the full text of what the player character will say, or maybe a warning about what the consequences of the choice might be, etc.

Replacing the current message sounds like what I'm thinking of.

Here's what I'm thinking

Of course, another way to present it is to have a little help window on the screen as DreamX suggests.

Wondering if I could make it so that you could choose what "type" of display you want for each individual message.

That example is precisely what I'm looking for.

It would be fantastic if it were compatible with your other choice related plugins as well.

I just tried it with hidden choices and..it doesn't work properly lol

It will need a patch for that one, since the way it is set up, you would just say

Choice 1 = show this message

Choice 2 = show this message

Also, with the prospect of display a separate message window for the help text, see if this plugin is compatible with your project.

It is the core plugin for my message system and provides functionality that will make it possible to have multiple messages in the game.

I've installed your message core Plugin.

The only other Message related Plugin I have is Yanfly's.

So far, the only thing I can note is that with your plugin on, Yanfly's name box's remain on screen after the message window has closed.

Ok maybe you can try putting it below my message core.

I looked at yanfly's plugin and it doesn't seem to be overwriting any of the message window stuff, so it might be OK to keep them together.

For the choice messages I'm currently working out a bug where the text sometimes automatically changes once the choices begin.

Swapping the Plugin Order has everything working as normal, though I haven't tested all the functions yet.

Also, thank you for taking the time to work on this.

RMMV
Actually, would it be possible to add the description as an extra window and keep the

other text box as it is? (Yes, I know someone else already said it).

The best example I could think of is if you were engaged in a Deus Ex-like conversation "battle"

and while considering your dialogue choices, you might want to reread the opponent's dialogue just in

case you forget or to find clues in his speech on how to reply.

Sounds good. I'll keep that in mind when I'm testing compatibility.

Yes, when the plugin is used along with my multiple message windows plugin, you can basically say which message window you want to use.

So you could choose to use the one that shows the original message, or you could use a different message window (you would have to set up the other window beforehand, but it's not too difficult)

Which is cool cause I didn't think of this use case when I originally wrote multiple message windows.

Guys, maybe it can be an offtopic, but could anyone of you - good scripters teach me how to, ya know, make a small separate window over some selectible (like a tooltip), 'cause I'M lurking the forums almost a week and all I've got is the we design tuttori that made my head to crush into many lil'heads all over the floor...

Or maybe you could make something like this yourself for little fee (really, very little, even less than 10$ I'm very poor...) And make me to dance and scatter colored pieces of paper everywhere.
