I was reading through the script call threads, and I was curious about something.

Is there any way to call the map display name whenever you want?

For example - instead of the map display name immediately showing up when you teleport to a town; it shows up after you pan the screen to the middle of the town.

Can that be done with a script call? Or will I need to use pictures?

Using pictures would be fine, but I was just curious if there was a way to do it.

You just gave me an idea.  Don't have any display name for the map at all, and use Yanfly's custom message script to make your own name display, then you can just use a autorun event to make it popup.

Oh nice, a actual use for the erase event command, woot woot.

Furthermore using the cystom message script, would give you a lot of freedom in designing the style of the display, since It's in a customizeable message box now, instead of the default display feature.

Hmmmm... good idea. I might use it for something a bit different from my inital question, but good idea. You could add a self switch if you don't want it to run again after seeing it once as well. That might work. Thanks!

I'm guessing there's no way to actually call it though?

It either didn't work for me, or I'm just using it wrong haha. I put it in a script call command in an event, but it didn't do anything.

I'm gonna use it for every map now, It can make way better name displays in general anyway(the default is almost unnoticeable up there in the corner, if the border from window skins applied to that, it wouldn't be too bad, but sadly it doesn't).

I'm gonna resize the message box to pretty much the exact size of the name, and place it in the middle of the screen for normal 1 fl maps.

Then for multi floor maps, I'm gonna use the name box function to display the name of the map, centering it ofcourse, and then in the text box right under it, it will display the floor.

To make it appear midway in an event, there's an option to Change Map Name Display in Map.

So for instance you could turn it OFF, Scroll Map to give a view of the town, then change the map name display to ON.

Yes, but would that force the name of the map to appear at the end of the scroll?

That last point is exactly how I was thinking of using it. Great minds? Haha.

I'm going to bump this once, and if I find no definitive answer, I'll mark it as closed.
