Distant 6: Deadly Horizons

SYNOPSIS

  • Play as Marcus, a man designated as a "Solution Specialist" on the deep space mining colony of Distant 6.
Distant 6 is a remote mining colony where not much usually happens besides the occasional arrival or departure of a space freighter, but several factors at work behind the scenes are about to make Marcus' job a bit more stressful in the coming week.
The main purpose behind missions in this game are to clear different sectors of the colony from threats. These threats can range from cargo rats to rogue robots or even the dreaded Thraxx. (Lizard like aliens that can breed and overrun colonies)
The battle system used for this game is a simplified Side View battle system (ie - very little complex action sequences)
The map based puzzles are solved using Tools to get past certain obstacles or solve puzzles. This is done using the Irina Tool Ring plugin and by selecting certain tools (which must be purchased) Marcus can proceed further into a sector or gain access to special areas of the game. You can also purchase better weapons and armor at the shopping district.
Recruitment of helpers can range from other citizens of Distant 6 looking for a few credits to purchasing a clone drone at the shopping district. The game has one section that allows for the swapping in and out of recruited helpers so you can customize your party before going on a mission. So far there are 6 possible recruits one can employ.
Talking to people around the colony can earn you Loyalty and Charisma points (and soon Rebel points) which will be useful for gaining special allies or items later in the game. For this reason, one might want to consider their responses to certain questions and scenarios presented to them earlier in the game.
The initial game would end when Mission 4 is completed. The plan is to then make expansion quests that can be played on other planets and locations and the selected party would travel to these locations via a shuttle or transporter.

SETTING AND/OR WORLD DEVELOPMENT

  • Distant 6 is a remote mining colony in the Milky Way Galaxy. The name Distant 6 is the corporate designation given to the planet when it was discovered by deep space exploration teams. The planet barely qualifies as a habitable planet thus was ignored by agriculturalists but was found to be rich in several metallic elements thus a mining colony was established instead. Terra Forming and Atmospheric Processing are in the works on the other side of the planet but will take decades to show any promising results for non commercial settlements. Space Travel to remote places of the Galaxy is possible by means of slipstream drives which propel a ship (or any object approved for that matter) to a pre-set direction in space. Several slipstream jumps might be needed to get to one location seeing as the stellar path has to be clear of celestial objects.

My apologies. I discovered a game locking bug and had to suspend the download option until I could fix it. The game should be download accessible shortly.
[FIXED] Download option is good to go again. Thanks for your patience.

Looks very good and plays nice. Has a vibe of retro space opera games and it's definitely a plus. Doesn't seem to have an investing main arch story though, is it developing later in the game?

Missions 1-3 are just to get you and your players up to speed as far as levels and equipment go. Mission 4 will be the first encounter with the Thraxx aliens which are a bit more dangerous than previous mission enemies. After liberating the colony from its infestation, the Corporation will taker notice of your skills (They somehow find out about the Thraxx - its hard to keep secrets from a MegaCorp) and start offering you missions on other planets/spaceships/colonies that have similar problems. Through all of this the branch choices dividing your loyalty to the Corp or the Anti-Corp will begin to open some opportunities to you and close others. I did not plan on making this game too deep as far as story goes, I was thinking more along the lines of the shooter game Xenophobe but giving some life to the characters in it.

@byproduct : I appreciate you taking the time to play it and give me your feedback. If you have any further suggestions I would be glad to read them.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

Kind of gives a very different feel. :LZSexcite:
To whom ever person or persons who re-did the DS/DS+ asset packs for MV (as in, they are all 48x48, and not just x2 the pixel scale) .... THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!! XwwwwX
