HI guys,

At the moment I have the game packed and working for webbrowser, android and windows.

For the windows setup, I used INNO, which is a pretty old program that I know from the 'old day's' and it works prefect for me to create an installation file.

However as perfect as it seems, the problem I have with the setup after downloaded from the website is that it get's blocked because it has not been officially code signed with a certificate. Such a certificate costs between $50 to $400,- each year, which is serious money considering the file just to be marked as safe by Microsoft windows protection mechanisms. I have reported the file as safe to Microsoft, but I'm not sure if they will take a look at it-

I was wondering, how do you guys distribute your game to the public for Windows users, zip it or are there any other tools that allows the not getting blocked?

I put mine into a .rar file. Never tried or considered anything else.

Winrar creates installation files, and allows you to modify the icon and logo, search for the SFX function:

Use the updated version, as some antivirus treat old compression as an "intrusion" attempt.

thank for the feedback everyone.

I give gamejolt a go :)

also where I didnt think of before is to put my installation setup file into a .zip file.
Maybe that could help, not getting blocked? I will try that tommorrow and let you know because;

I realy like the installtion setup I have created. It creates an uninstall option, desktop shortcut, my program folder at the start menu and the game files are at the my program files on C:. Also I think it look more pro then extracting it from a zip file to desktop?... but the blocking by Windows makes it all useless, where users are not able to download the .exe

I have doubts of using .rar because winrar / 7zip is required for extracting. Where windows can extract basic .zip without a 3d party program. Altough 7zip is free, it is another step for the user to do before it can play the game.
But this is where the sfx self extraction kicks in. Not it if that .exe won't get blocked though...
Will try that too.
Maybe there is also an auto start option after extraction, I can't remember, if winrar has it I could add my setup.exe into the sfx and let it run after extraction... I'm not sure about this but I will give it a go.

I find the whole problem very odd - I've used a lot of homemade software in my life, that surely didn't have anything paid for a digital certificate, and Windows has never "blocked" anything.

The closest I've seen to what you're talking about is the User Account Control that pops up at the default security levels giving you the little "Do you want this program to modify your computer?" to which you'd simply click yes.

Do the people you're sending it to have their security settings jacked up unnecessarily to where it takes away that option? Are you sure this isn't coming from INNO rather than Windows?

Yes I agree with you, however after some updates Windows seems to tighten the security.
The problem came from the edge browser - smartscreen, after downloading any .exe

Also just a regular note: the Enigma Packer (also other packers) which is mostly used by te community let most antivirus goes haywire-,maybe it is also happening with the INNO software for creating setup files.

Then I would just include instructions on the site to use a browser other than Edge for the download.

Good news everyone, I combined all your great ideas to a workable solution;

I added the setup.exe into a zip file (with no compression) and I let the customer decide which one to download. If the .exe fails because of the securtiy measurements taken by the browser, antivirus or whatever, they can download the .zip and fingers crossed and hopefully they can install the game, and have fun / or not.
I also made game jolt page :)

Edit 14 may 2021:
I downloaded the .zip files from two different systems with the Edge browser.
Both files didn't download, they where saved as 0kb .zip files. I thought that it had todo with a wrong FTP upload to the server, but after investigating that the file is there with a good size I downloaded it back with the FTP software and it is working fine. Also downloaded it with Internet Explorer was also working fine. So I googled it and one of the solutions for one, was turning / editting parental control, however I didn't have that turned on. But After resetting the whole browser, it was working again, so must be another of MS update tricks I guess!?

TFW you discover how the script batching works in VNMaker... after you've had the program for almost 3 years.

Writes that the characters have to climb a mountain.

Realized that I have to draw six sets of models where characters are climbing.

At least I know how to draw something. :)
I'm currently scratching my head on how to design plains. What do I even put in plains? Some trees (but not too many or it turns into a forest)? Grass? A few bushes? That's a bit dull.
I'm looking for tutorials but Google didn't seem to find much (or maybe I have the wrong keywords). I don't know how to map plains and I don't know how to learn.
I should probably be dragged kicking and screaming away from Daz3D... I was playing with 8.1 models and came up with this. Thoughts?
