So I have set up a event that I can interact with.

What I want to do is after let's say 4 times of talking to this event, have it say something different (I.e. "Fine. Here.") and then gives the actor an item.

Would I need to use variables and/or a conditional branch to get this to work?

You could use both. Start off with a conditional branch that you will use with a variable X = 4 and make sure you check the option for the 'else' option. Then put in what he should say if the variable is below 4 (that would be in the 'else' section of the conditional branch) and add a +1 value to the variable. Now in the first section of the conditonal branch, add what he's supposed to say after the player have talked to him 4 times (the value of the conditional branch is = 4), and add whatever you want to happen.

Just add another event page if you want the event to work differently after this.

Hope that helps.

On the "leave me alone" page, increment a variable each time. Then create a new page with the new text, and set its condition (in the Conditions, above the graphic, NOT as a conditional branch) to that variable being => a certain amount.

either Variables + Branches as said above

or Variables + Another event page

set page 1 to the normal talk page, then page two for the Fine talk page, then check the variables part of the conditions tab of that page and set it to the variable you use, then put 4 on the value

then on the normal talk page, just increase the variable with 1 for every talk

You do know that both ways works the same way right? It's all about preferences. I usually do it like I suggested, but I do use your way too (if there's a switch that needs to be on as well, or some other condition).

Edit: Nevermind I read your post wrong :)

I also posted within 2 minutes of your post, which means I probably didn't even see your post there when I did mine ;)

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
