Hi, I'm trying to make a Dodge/Backstep mechanic in RPG Maker MV. I am using Chrono Engine ABS. I would like to change the (D) Defense button into Dodge/Backstep to avoid enemy attacks, traps, etc. Using another button would be fine other than the D button. If anyone could help, it is one of the last steps to finishing my game.

Im not familiar with chrono engine but i use an abs myself, can you rebind keys to anything else? If you can then rebind it to a common event that does a moveroute for the player that either does 1 step back or jumps backward.

In both cases you will need either a collision check plugin/script or manually check via conditionals that you're jumping/stepping into a valid region, specially as jumps can get you on top of a tree or inside a wall, i chose backstepping as jumping could bring more errors.

Thanks for the reply!! I tried binding them to other keys but didn't work. I'm currently trying the F button and cant get it to work. can you take a screenshot of your move route? I don't know how to call a common event by pressing a button currently. do you know of a good collision id plugin also?

Well im using yanfly common button events (MV) and one simple command:

Thats it for a backstep, make sure to skip if you cant move or you will be stuck forever, jumping would require region checks either by terrain tags or region ids and that would require you to set up your maps properly.

Hey, thanks, yep that's what i have and a sound effect. I got it working last night using Hakuen Studio's button common events and it works great. I also have no collisions. If a player is backed to the wall or object they just won't be able to backstep and that's cool. Thank you big time for the help BK!
