Does anyone actually make scripts for this version of RPG Maker?

So I bought RPG Maker VX since it was really cheap on Steam. However, that came at the price of ****ty support. I don't have the 80 bucks to buy VX Ace (and probably never will), so I wanted to know if there's any scripts out there for VX, such as a caterpillar script, or a free-movement script, or a diagonal movement script. If there's anything like that, let me know please! I could really use it!

Seriously ... that engine is over 10 years old now. Where would you buy a 10 year old piece of software and expect support in the form of new plugins still being created?

There would have been scripts for probably all of those things at one time. Whether they're still around or not is a different matter.

I suggest you make individual posts in the RGSS2 Script Requests forum for each script you want, and see if anyone can give you a link.

Ace goes on sale fairly regularly during the year too. Keep an eye out to see if there's a Halloween or Black Friday sale.

vx has plenty of great scripts, that were never ported to mv and mz.. so those you are looking for are somewhere in other sites. but are most likely not supported anymore.

If you want to save you lots of troubles. I'd suggest saving up and getting a copy of MV when it's on sale. That version is still considered modern and has plenty of free plugins for you to experiment with. Consider it if you are somewhat serious about game making.

And to answer your original question: Does anyone actually make scripts for this version of RPG Maker?
Not really.

My word. I don't know what your experience level with computers is, but as Shaz said, I would never consider it reasonable to buy a 13-year old piece of software (that has had several newer versions released) and expect it to be actively supported, or to have an active community.

I also have no clue why you would even consider "upgrading" to VX Ace. Why wouldn't you just get one of the modern versions? MZ is the current version, and if plugin options are your concern, MV is still modern and has years of well-developed plugins available on various sites.

Probably, but you'll have to search. 13 years ago means you're probably looking for people's old Geocities and WordPress Web sites.

I suggest you save up a bit until Steam's Black Friday sale next month - MV went on sale for 12 bucks earlier this year, and has fairly often been available for $20. I have no idea what your life is like that you expect you will never be able to have 80 dollars to spare, but you should be able to get twenty bucks by, like, doing a single odd job for someone.

as suggested above you should check for sales to get a more modern version cheap.
there are even search engines specifically designed to check all steam-resellers for current and past sales.
Ace for example was even down to 1$ two times in humble bundles.

Here is a link, check it for MZ, MV or Ace sales depending on what you consider cheap

Even though Steam shows that it released in 2008? I also don't see people suggesting VX Ace, I see them recommending MV or MZ.

For the record, although VX and VX Ace use a different version of RGSS, most scripts written for VX Ace will work with VX (some may need minor adjustments to reflect changes in how the core scripts do things)

My commission work includes all flavours of RGSS and I'll do scripts for XP all the way to MZ, so if you need something specific I can let you know when I have a slot free for hiring.
