6000+ hours and counting. Multiple playthroughs, spend weeks developing characters and playstyle rules. Us modders will never let that game die.

I'm tempted to play it, especially since they can't stop re-releasing it on every platform imaginable.

Granted I haven’t played in some time, but it’s really great for all those times where you know you want to play something but you don’t know what you want to play.

A while back, I had begun yet another new Skyrim file as a female dark elf named Sinnifer (I mean, I could've named her Sinner Jennifer, but come on, Sinnifer was right there!)
I got Serana as a companion & finished her questline.
Then I finished the Dark Brotherhood questline. I married a woman who had previously asked me to assassinate her husband, then I adopted an adorable daughter off the streets. Then I killed an abusive jerk & adopted his daughter as well. my child now.
Then I tried installing mods, messed around, eventually got bored, and quit playing for a long time.
Didn't even boot it up and make yet another new character for what feels like the 100th time!

... Until Skyrim Anniversary Edition came out. As soon as it went on sale, I bought Special Edition + Anniversary (whereas I only had Oldrim before that) and made Sinnifer 2.0h No.
Dangit Todd Howard! You got my money again!

I hear that Special Edition is the sweet spot for modding, since Anniversary Edition broke a bunch of them.

It's not. Anniversary Edition came out years ago, and the modding community has largely recovered and moved on since then.

Not all mods are updated, though. I guess it can only be survival mode that can clash with mods.

Survival mode includesbhinger, thirst and fatique, but also warmth and cold are a large part of survival. Another thing that changes isbthat you can only level up when sleeping.

Everything else added is quests, items and houses. That cant really break any mods, I guess. Maybe if IDs used by the anniversary edit are also used by mods, but that seems far fetched to me.

Off and on (I'd say somewhere between the first two poll options). Ironically, for how much I keep playing it (no doubt hundreds of hours), I find it to be a treasure trove of terrible game design and baffling development choices. It's really helped me as a developer know the difference between a good concept and good execution.
Or am I the only one?
This kind of question always confuses me. Especially with this game, Skyrim is one of the most played and bought video games of all time, I would find it baffling if somehow no one else here happened to play it.

Hopefully Todd Howard and his crew have learned some valuable lessons over the years since Skyrim's release.

Well crap, I just realized that I haven't installed Skyrim on this new build. Good thing I backed up all my saves and the entire data folder. But honestly... I'm not sure I'll return to Skyrim. I've been so enthralled in Fallout 4 (I'm ALWAYS late, remember that) and the characters I made for Skyrim are starring in their own game now.

I don't own it at the moment, but when I did, I'd just make one of my OCs. Then I'd make another OC. Then another...

@StrawberryFlower I ended up with.. 4 or 5 OCs, each one starring in my main project. I feel like I started to make a forsworn character before I started moving to FO4.

about this argument. I expressed myself badly, I did it on my own, my English was mixed with Google Translate. And I believe chatGPT didn't even exist in 2016
