If you don't know what a "Leapster" is well I can't blame you. It was an Edutainment handheld gaming console with 81 different games, usually based on a popular kid's TV show or movie. Most of the "games" were terrible mini-game collections like "Pixar's Up for Leapster" and "Pixar's Incredibles for Leapster." The quality of the games were very poor with bad game design and graphics looking like they came from MS paint. They sort of seemed like bootlegs but no, these were actually sold in stores like Toy's R Us (RIP) and Target and I loved them. I played these awful games for hours every day. Even when I got a Wii in 2008, I still played the Leapster because it was unlimited unlike the Wii which had a 30 minute limit on school days and can be taken away. Even on weekends I could only play it for 2 hours a day, since I raged a lot while playing if I died or lost. My favorite games on Leapster was Sonic X (based on the 4kids dub of the sonic anime) and Batman for Leapster. Funny story: I always turned off the sound during the opening and when I played the final level. It was because of the Joker's awful quality laugh sound effect which I was absolutely terrified about mainly because it reminded me of The Brave Little Toaster. (do not speak of the devil clown man!!!) Badman was fun because it was the only game with health, lives, and actual battling and boss fights. I think it was based of The Batman cartoon. (2002-2008) There was also Sonic X which was sonic without the enemies and a choppy frame-rate. Instead of enemies, there were math robots who forced you to answer a math question that would be automatically correctly answered for a few rings after some time. There was also cranes that forced you into a mini game that solved itself but wouldn't give you rings. You need to get 100 rings in each of the 9 levels split into 3 worlds to get a chaos emerald. Yes, there are 9 chaos emeralds, sorta. You don't get one in the first level and the final one is the master emerald. There are also no bosses either making the game very boring. Despite this, I still 100% the game and got the true ending where Chris (from the anime, annoying 4kids voice and all) is rescued. The game also uses a weird combination a Sonic 3 and Knuckles and Sonic Advance sprites so that's a thing. Overall the leapster is a crap piece of hardware, but it still holds a place in my heart for being a major part of my childhood.
