Thank you @Touchfuzzy for clarifying the rule and celebrate LGBT Pride Month: https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/its-pride-month.109748/#post-974981

Well, here are some games which contain LGBT elements, but people do not tags. I guess it was a taboo on the game industry of something (Not the west mostly, some others part of the world of course) (I do not cast votes.):

If you would like to know about the incident, here (https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/inde...-opinions-the-thread.96090/page-5#post-870256)

What do you think? (If you know me well, you probably know that my judgment is kind of impulsive.) Thank you for expressing your voice.

I think if they want to promote it as having the elements they should put the tag in it, like how people do on Steam and other sites. Basically you as the developer need to decide what your themes are and what you want to promote with your game, and tag it appropriately. A separate section is not needed I feel for that reason.

No need for that imo. The way I see diversity is the need to look at each others' content and not our appearance/sexual orientation/ethnicity. So that means no negative OR POSITIVE discrimination. That means I don't care if you're white/asian/black/jew/gay/queer/from Mars, or something else, I just want to see if your game, your drawing, your music, is good. You don't get plus or minus points just because you're white/asian/black/gay. That's true equality and no discrimination, a world where people are "not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." (Martin Luther King).

Besides, this is a forum for game dev, not activism.

I've moved this thread to Site Feedback. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

As I said in the other thread, I do not think it is a good idea, nor will happen. Not that my word is final, but I'm pretty sure it's been discussed here before.

If we make a section for these specific games, someone may want a section for games that just feature female heroes. Another may want a section of games with people of color as the hero. Someone else may want a section strictly for non-human heroes. If we allow one, we cannot dismiss the possibility that someone will argue for more, and more sections is not what this forum needs.

All we can do is encourage people to appropriately use tags, and if you see a game thread and feel the developer could have better tags, suggest it to them.

Again, my word is not final, this is just my thoughts and opinions on it.

Yeah, you always need to look at the situation in that you might ghettoize your own community on accident.

I think tags work well though. I mean, yeah, someone might not open your thread because of the tag, but let's be honest, is the opinion of someone who wouldn't open a game thread because it says LGBT characters on a tag something you really want?

Well, if you make a gay game, you're probably marketing towards gays anyway.

But if we have an LGBT tag, would I have to tag my game as "Straight"? Or does it require no tag at all? Maybe just "Romance" without "LGBT"?
Actually, don't you already make custom tags for forum threads anyway? So now that I think about it, what is the point of requesting a "mandatory LGBT tag"? What would that entail? Just curious.

No one said anything about mandatory tags. I was just pointing out that we already have a system that can help members find such games, if the developers will utilize it.

I just like to be helpful (it can be a pushy idea.); anytime is a stupid idea, but I ask anyway.:kaojoy: (Statistics)

Not everyone thinks like you sadly.

@MushroomCake28, not everyone is rational as you sadly. (Martin Luther King)- If he did peacefully protests, the law would not be changed (activism).
You and I know that if no one says nothing, nothing is changed or talking about.

@Finnuval, it is great that you are safe and sound. Happy to see you active again.

Anyone can put anything they want to market their game as as tags. As long as it doesn't somehow break our rules (which I'm trying to think of how, other than just like, straight using slurs as tags).

that implies having a gay character makes a game 'gay' somehow and a straight character makes a 'straight' game... not really sure what either one would be honestly. a game is a story and it may or may not feature straight, gay or other characters, doesn't need to mean they are about that though. So the statement that it would be marketed towards that audience is one conclusion to far in my opinion.

Yeah, what matters is the story, not if the characters are straight or gay. A lot of popular films feature straight couples, like for example the Disney movies, and I'm sure gay people enjoy those movies as much as straight people do. And if there was a movie with gay people, I would only evaluate the film based on the story, not the character's sexual orientation.

Fair enough; however, I do believe that a game focusing on LGBT is indeed a "gay game". And if LGBT is enough of a focus to have its own section, is that not inherently a focus on gay/trans? Well, I know the idea was already basically rejected, but I'm still just throwing in my (probably unwanted) two cents :p I think the tagging system we have already works great and there's no harm in tagging your game LGBT with the existing system.

The poll specifies "mandatory", so that's why I used that word

Still not sure what a 'gay game' is honestly. If I understand you correctly it works something like this ;

Romeo & Juliet is a story about two straight people in an impossible love situation so that equals a 'straight' story then? So it is targeted at straight people and not a story I as a gay man could value on its own merits???

Honestly unless the story is specifically about the struggle of being who you are (be it LGBT or against racism, etc) I really don't get your POV in this matter.

Please, I remind everyone that question is good or bad idea to do LGBT tags. (Is game which contains LGBT elements tags, so it would easy to find.) It is a discussion before I do something more stupid.

Are the games have a gender? I thought the game called it, so it is genderless.

Currently, 100%, it is good as it is. lol
(It is a question yes or no question; however, it turns into an emotionally based question. It is an awareness, not politics. As @Touchfuzzy said, "everyone gets to feel comfortable being the person they are." That is LGBT exists and it is nothing you can about that. (less you feel uncomfortable.)) Actions and word can be totally different.
(Prosecution and hated existed unless your mind lives in an Ivory tower.) (Compassion and empathy for others' suffering would create real peace society.) A side-effect of reading too much news.:kaothx:

Well, if what you are saying is true, then what is the point of any LGBT tag/description? If you tag your game as LGBT, I can assume it's an LGBT game (or "gay game" as I called it, but LGBT is probably more accurate). Why else would you specify LGBT if not for categorizing it as gay/trans?

Also, I mean yeah, Romeo and Juliet is a story of heterosexual love. I never said that you as a gay man couldn't enjoy it though, I don't know how you implied that from my statements.

@Romanticist I think there's a difference between a game focused on lgbt issues (which would be an lgbt game, as you put it), and a game with lgbt characters. If you saw the tag 'robot character', would you expect the game to have only robots? The point of tags is to help people find games that they think they'd like, not to completely put the game in a box. Of course, it all depends on the dev to use the tags to their advantage.

I think the current tagging system works, as long as people remember to actually add them.

Well in all honesty I could live without the LGBT tag. The only reason I would put it in there is so that people having a problem with it would be warned and can't cause a stink about it :D other then that I would much more prefer a situation in which such a tag would not be necessary or even wanted.
Without making this political but it's the same with the pride ; I celebrate it because I feel it is still a necessary thing in society today not because I need to identify myself by it.

Romeo and Juliet is a story of heterosexual love
it is a story of many things. Betrayal, long term vendettas, honor, unrequited love... the vessels might be straight but the straight bit is the smallest thing of that story in all honesty.

, I don't know how you implied that from my statements.
because in your statement that would mean I am not the intended audience so the fact that I could enjoy it would be unexpected and outside of the normal expectation of the person making it. That's how I read it anyway :)
