Actually no that's a really good way of showing off more information without cluttering the screen. Like in my games skills are tied to the weapons rather then learning them, but I'm having a problem of wanting to make a unique description of the weapon while also listing off things like skills, energy requirement to use the weapon in combat, etc, etc. Simply put, I don't have enough room to put down all the information that the player needs outside of stats. Are you planning to release this plugin to the public?
I haven't really thought about releasing it since it's an incredibly inefficient way of making a pop up. I just figured it'd be easier to do than make one that REALLY makes a pop up info window. I'm sure eventually someone will make a true pop up window that'll offer tons more customization and more user friendly controls.![]()
If you just added the ability to tie the pop up to a button on the keyboard so that if you either hovered over it with the mouse OR held down the key you could view additional information that would literally be amazing. As Wavelength said, lot's of people are looking for this plugin![]()
But it's up to you whether you release it of course, just my two cents
And for the original question no, it's not redundant it's awesome.
A LOT of people are asking for this kind of script, actually!
One problem I have with it is that in general, MV users will play a game with either a mouse or a keyboard. Having some functions like this hover-over info that rely on a single method of input can make the game feel very awkward for people who want to mainly use their keyboard. Of course, if there are lots of things in your game that are mouse-dependent, then all players will use the mouse for your game and you can feel comfortable about adding features that require it - it's just that middle ground of "can do most, but not all, things with any control scheme" that makes things awkward.
Ooo interesting proposal
I do have a counter offer though![]()
Take a look at Vlue's Icon Inventory menu and see if that float's your boat, it appears to do everything you need!
