This is for a door inside a map (to separate two rooms), not a door to enter a separate map, so I want to have it open up when touched, have the player pass through it, and then it close behind him.

The problem is, with these movement directions, it looks fine going IN the door, but when the door is closing behind the player, the animation is wrong, and I can't figure out the proper way to animate it.

Help?

Are you sure that is the active event page? The reason I wonder is because it's conditioned by a self switch. What's on pages 1 and 2? Could one of them be active and have an incorrect move route instead?

Page 1 is saying that the door is locked.

Page 2's requirement is having the key, which will display a "you opened the door" message and it will play that exact move route I have on page 3, then it will activate a self switch to get you on page 3, which no longer has the "you opened the door" message.

Can you elaborate, then, on what you mean when you say the animation is wrong? What does it look like it's doing? I don't see anything in your event that makes me think it wouldn't work as you want it to.

I also doubt it could be your followers, but just for the sake of thoroughness, can you turn off followers in your database and remove the Gather Followers command from the event rules, and see if it makes a difference?

Okay wait, I got mixed up and explained my issue wrong.

The problem isn't when the door is closing. It's when it's opening from the opposite side.

If I enter the door from the south, it opens and closes fine.

If I pass back through from the north, when it opens, it looks like it flickers for a frame or two. The animation isn't smooth.

And yes, I tried doing what you suggested.

Oh, okay. That's because you don't have direction fix turned on, and you're approaching the door from above. By default, events will "turn to face you" when you interact with them. So when you enter from below, it's fine, because the closed door sprite is the one in the 'down' direction (the event is facing down towards you).

When you interact with it from above, it will first turn to face you, so it faces 'up', and you'll notice the 'up' direction has NO sprite which makes the door disappear, and THEN it goes through its directional frames.

To fix the problem, check the Direction Fix box. Then at the start of your first move route, set Direction Fix OFF, and at the end of your second move route, set Direction Fix ON.

I'm not sure what you're suggesting, but I don't think it's going to achieve the desired purpose. The problem IS because the event is not set to direction fix, and the solution IS what I suggested.

Please do not ask people to PM you for help. I don't know how long you've been using RPG Maker, but the information you've given here is NOT correct. It would be much better for people to ask questions and have them answered out in the open, so if anyone gives an incorrect answer, as you have done, it can be corrected. Also - asking for likes? Not very classy. If your advice is good, the likes will come without you having to 'fish' for them.

That works, thanks :)

...Now if you'll excuse me... I need to go and fix all of my doors x_X
