Soooo, this has been on my mind for a while, and I'm not sure if this the right place, or if it has already been asked...

But, I have been wondering, does anyone know a way to limit the number of copies of your game someone can download? Like, to make sure they aren't randomly downloading their purchased version on like 50 different people's computers?

Sort of like how microsoft office can only be downloaded on 1 computer at a time by the person who purchased it. Also, I think steam does something similar.

I'm hoping to find a way to do it on my own website so that i don't have to worry about steam fees and things. I'd also like to know how to distribute hard copies of my game on flash drives that would just have ONE copy of the game, or at least only allows the game to be copied onto one computer at a time.

Does this sound doable? Thanks for dealing with my noob-ness, I appreciate any help!

The only way to do that is by having server-side DRM.

Which means you either find a publisher that provides DRM to you, or you'll need to setup your own DRM server (and DRM-Software is not cheap, expect several hundreds $ at minimum in addition to the monthly costs of the server.

Hmmmmmmm, so it seems that going with steam might be a good bet at first!

Thanks for the info! I had no idea about that kinda stuff.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
