Please note that this is very much an early-stage game; so much so that I sadly haven't even got a demo ready yet. This is more of an "elevator pitch"kind of post - I'd like some feedback on the concept! C:

NAME

Draconic - A Fantasy RPG (working title)

GAME GENRE

Adventure, RPG, Visual Novel

GAME FLAVOURS

Fantasy, Dungeon-Crawler, Mystery, Bizarre

GAME SYNOPSIS

Draconic - A Fantasy RPG takes place on a lush, green planet not too dissimilar from our own.

However, the dominant species of this particular world are not humans - rather, they are dragons.

In a world that is becoming increasingly hostile as the years pass, dragons as a race are forced to turn to the practice of the arcane arts to ensure their own survival. With the construction of various institutions to educate young adults in the practices and disciplines of such arts came a cultural and scientific revolution, sparking interest in long-lost artefacts and ancient technologies.

One such relic is brought to the College of the Phoenix, where the player has moved into in order to undergo arcane self-defence training. Along with it arrives the presence of strange arcane phenomena - unstable tears between the fabrics of the Ethereal and Material Planes, known as Ethereal Wounding. Time becomes distorted, matter of living and otherwise begins to decay and the effect only spreads unless dealt with promptly.

The player controls the Protagonist, a late adolescent dragon of 29 years and a silent hero. The player can determine the gender. They must balance a life of mastering the arcane arts through the College of the Phoenix, a social life and also the pressure of combating demonic ethereal forces in an effort to seal closed the Ethereal Wounds - this gameplay is heavily inspired by the Persona series of games, and borrows mechanics from other popular RPGs such as Bravely Default as well.

Magic is a key feature of the game, both within and outside of combat. It aids exploration, opens up new opportunities for player choices and also allows for great creativity with resolving situations in battle. Magic is divided into the traditional Schools, i.e. Transmutation, Evocation, Divination, Illusion and so on.

Social interaction will feature heavily. In order to gain access to stronger magic, more powerful arcane augmentations and bonus skills/abilities, players will need to forge strong relationships with those around them. This could also open up the opportunity for romantic routes later in the game, alá Mass Effect/Dragon Age

The game will also feature full voice-acting for the main questline events and some sidequests. The voice-acting cast is almost fully confirmed at this point.

Considering this game is still in the very early design stages, the most I can offer at the moment are the GameJolt page and the concept art that has been submitted there; https://gamejolt.com/games/rpg/draconic-a-fantasy-rpg/69819/

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
