Wheee so I found this old drawing I made in 2000. This was one of the first digital pieces I ever made. I went back really quick and redrew it really quick.

It's supposed to be self portrait drawn from a photo from high school lol. In the new version I was true to my actual self and drew wavy hair. The original drawing has straight hair because I wanted straight hair and ideally drew myself with it. Now I miss having thick wavy hair.

Practice and just drawing a lot. :x I could probably do a better version of it if I put more than 45 minutes into it and did something other than quick cell shading. Like in 2000, I couldn't do digital photo realism and it's something I can do now pretty well. I had no concept of color theory and just used the most saturated colors. I also didn't understand how to use digital tools and I eventually went into this phase of using the default smudge tool everywhere. I also struggled with posture and anatomy for a long time.

I think the original picture was drawn on paper, scanned and colored in this photo editing program that came bundled with my first PC. I used that a lot before I bought paint shop pro and then got the student version of photoshop in college.

I actually like the first one's design more, lol. It's more original and has more style and personality than the 2nd one. But i can't deny that you have improved.
