There is no ancient prophecy to fulfill...
No one has ever saved the world...
We have flourished together...and we have suffered together in the cosmos.
Compared to now, it's unsure if this story takes place in the past or the future.
What's it all for though? Is there a purpose for all of this?
That's the one thing about us humans.
We question...
We want to know everything.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dreams of Arcadia is a modern spin on the classic JRPG that follows Yusha, a twenty-year-old student of philosophy and world religions. A pupil by day, a dualblade by night and all around free thinker (whenever she's not eating cake!) she embarks on a journey across the universe
that no one could have even dreamed of - even in their magical holy books.
Joining her adventure is childhood friend and wise mage Naosu, a once-divine-knight Hogen and a whimsical, kind-of-out-there 'spacey' Cleric, Uncle Izado.
Mankind has followed religious ideologies, spiritual cults and social philosophies since the dawn of civilization.
The largest current religious following in the world of Aeon is Usoism, who claim their god, "The Maker", created the entire universe from powerful gemstones called Naru Crystals.
It's not-so-sacred founder and religious zealot, Prophet Akuma, is beginning to act bizarre.
Yusha's grandfather, Professor Kyoju, has been hard at work surveying the heavens in his observatory
when late one night he receives a message from what seems to be another star system!
But The Holy Book of Usoism has told people for centuries that The Maker only blessed their world with life.
How can this be? Are the people of Aeon being deceived? Who really is Prophet Akuma?
Humanity as a whole is becoming more intelligent...although sometimes it's not always so obvious!
Some old chains are being broken, a few minds are being set free, but one thing is holding us back as a species - our past.
Where did we really come from? Why are we really here?
Your questions answered in Dreams of Arcadia!

CRYSTAL TEMPLES
During your journey you will discover the mysterious Naru Temples (NTs) - elegant sanctuaries of energy built on Naru Crystal reservoirs. There are 9 NTs to be discovered through the main story quest. Inspired by the elements, they are Earth, Fire, Light, Arcane, Poison, Lightning, Water, Wind and Darkness. Each NT will contain a Power Item used to progress through an obstacle or grant a special power in the game
POWER ITEMS
Power Items are found within the Crystal Temples. They each imbue the player with a certain ability used to progress through the game or assist in accessing certain areas. They cost no MP to use and are classified as a Key Item.
SIDE VIEW CTB BATTLE SYSTEM
Utilizing the integrated side-view battle system in RMMV, MotC uses Yanfly's Charge Turn Battle system. Speed and agility play a major factor in the CTB changing the flow of battle through turn manipulation. Each character takes turns executing their actions during a turn order instead of waiting for the entire party to queue up their actions to be unleashed at once. This effectively adds more strategy to how you decide to take your turns. Some characters could take two turns in a row!
HIDDEN CHARACTERS
That's right! There are multiple hidden playable characters to discover throughout the universe. They could be from your home town...or they could be from Neptune! It's up to you to unlock them! You will encounter at least 10 main characters during your journey. Who knows how many more are out there?
BONUS SKILL LEARNING SYSTEM
SJ offers the player a choice of a skill direction they would like to pursue for each character.
Although every character learns basic core skills that use MP while leveling up, they are offered the chance to learn bonus skills that use TP in exchange
for a combination of AP (Ability Points) and certain currency items (Golden Tokens & Elder Stone Tablets) which are found throughout the game.
This offers the player some diversity in how they want to develop their party and play style. Some skills are even learned through main story progression or from super rare equipment!

GATHERING PROFESSIONS
Influenced by games like World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV, gathering professions offer another side to the gaming experience other than main content grinding. Feel like just hanging out in a cave and listening to music while mining ores for weapons? What about relaxing in an open meadow harvesting herbs and flowers for potions? This gathering system adds an extra aspect into the synthesis and crafting feature so you won't have to wait for enemies to potentially drop the crafting reagent you have been wanting for your next creation!
RANKED BATTLE AMPHITHEATER
Similar to Tales of Symphonia's Coliseum or Final Fantasy VII's Gold Saucer Battle Square, the Ranked Battle Amphitheater (RBA) is an extra location that can be used to test your character's strengths and weaknesses as well as help you become more attuned to the play style of your character. These battles are tackled as a party AND as solo characters.
The higher the rank you climb the better your rewards become. The RBA may even reward high ranking heroes with sweet loot!

NON-INTEGRAL SIDE QUESTS
Side quests are not a core part of the journey, but offer more content and some lore to the story you're unfolding.
They could range from "find this item" or "kill this creature", your common fetch quest perhaps.
They usually offer rewards like gold or items and can take place in main quest locations, Optional Areas or Story Dungeons.

ITEM SYNTHESIS & GEAR CRAFTING
SJ attempts to take an easy, yet intuitive approach to crafting.
Crafting requires you to be present at a forge (for equipment) or an alchemy table (for elixirs and items) while in the possession of
certain tiers of Synthesis Tomes. These tomes range from the Tome of Magic Armors to the Tome of Minor Glyphs to the Tome of Major Naru Crystals.
You are only able to craft the recipes from the tomes you've discovered. The reagents needed for the crafting recipes are found
through defeating enemies, treasure chests and rewards for completing side quests, Optional Areas and Story Dungeons.

GEAR AUGMENTING SYSTEM
Inspired by the runes and gemstones in the Diablo series, the player is given the ability to enhance their armors with 'Glyphs' as well as infuse their
weapons with the famed 'Naru Crystal' augments. Applying Glyphs or Naru Crystals not only enhances the weapons stats and abilities, but also alters the name of the item your enhancing based on the effects of the augments.
For example: a Long Sword infused with a Crimson Naru Crystal becomes a "Flaming Long Sword", adding fire damage. Furthermore, adding a Charismatic Naru Crystal changes it to "Flaming Long Sword of Harmony", adding bonus stats and extra experience yields in battle. There are currently 20 different Naru Crystals (adding more) and 150 augment-able weapons, which makes (literally) THOUSANDS of different weapon combinations!
Similarly, the Glyph armor system has the same effect. A 'Glyph of the Wolf' applied to 'Ornate Armor' becomes 'Ornate Armor of the Wolf' giving the wearer extra attack damage. Adding an additional "Glyph of the White Sea' turns the armor into 'Nautical Ornate Armor of the Wolf' now with additional stats and bonuses.

GUILDS
Taking from the ingenuity of The Elder Scrolls series, SJ is currently adding a newer component to the game - ranked guilds.
Guilds are groups of like-minded individuals gathering together with some common goals. You could join the Bandit's Guild and begin your quest to STEAL the most epic loots of all time! Or you could join the Fisherman's Guild and have the catch of a lifetime! All while climbing the ranks of the group to (maybe?) some day become the the guild leader!

CAMEOS AND EASTER EGGS
During your play-through you will be able to find many, many cameos of famous people throughout history, video games and cinema as well as hidden easter eggs! You'll find ancient philosophers like 'Choclates' 'Aristurtle' and 'Playdo'. You'll run into a spikey-haired, giant-sword-wielding protagonist named 'Claude'. You may even find yourself!
ITEM TRADING CHAIN
Inspired by the Zelda series, the player just so happens to find a certain item that someone in particular needs, who offers you another item in exchange that another particular person needs...in exchange for another item! This small feature allows the player to have more reasons to explore the world of not just Aeon, but other planets as well! Who knows where the trade route will take you?
SECRET PASSAGEWAYS
Really? You put this on the list? ...Yeah! SJ applies a feature found in the Shining Soul series which allows players to move through otherwise completely hidden passageways if they just know where to step! You never know what kinds of treasures you could find!
OPTIONAL AREAS
Introduced into Memoirs of the Cosmos are Optional Areas (OA). Fully open to whoever can find them (and survive!) - OAs are similar to side quests as they are not an integral part of the game. You are not required to complete these areas as part of the main storyline, but they are outfitted to give the player more experience points, better items and that good old dungeon crawl vibe as they offer minimal dialogue or story plots. These areas are essentially hidden dungeon diving locations in addition to the dungeons you'll be doing during the main quest.
Say you're walking through the beginner area, Havendale Mountain, on your way to the Havendale Observatory for part of the main quest, and on the far side of the mountain you see a set of vines hanging over what seems to be a decently sized hole in the side of the rocks. You slash away the vines to reveal a hidden passage deep into the mountain. As you enter the area you recieve a message prompt -
"You have discovered the Optional Area 'Mountain Grove'."
In this OA, Mountain Grove, there are three dungeon levels each becoming larger and more intricate than the last. You will find mostly new enemies during your adventure as well as bonus chests scattered throughout the area filled with valuable goods.
After completing the OA, which is determined by either defeating the end boss and/or completing some sort of task within the dungeon, the player will be awarded the "OPTIONAL AREA COMPLETED" message along with receiving bonus completion items, weapons, gold, etc.
OAs were inspired by the side dungeons you would find exploring the Diablo series - a good dungeon crawl with a rare unique boss waiting at the end guarding a shiny treasure chest.

STORY DUNGEONS
The next step in dungeon crawling, above Optional Areas, are Story Dungeons (SD).
Unlike Optional Areas, Story Dungeons aren't readily available from the beginning of the game. These dungeons are unlocked through a series of events including main story quests or side quests. Story Dungeons are exactly that - places that offer additional lore to the story you are experiencing. They are usually hidden or at least somewhat less obvious to the player or difficult to reach. They often house important character bosses, extra information about Dreams of Arcadia, and hints about other hidden locations. Story Dungeons are also the only place the player can obtain Mythic Gear!

SECRET MEMOIRS
Akin to Tales of Symphonia's "Z-Skits" or Final Fantasy IX's Active Time Events (ATE) these "Secret Memoirs" (SM) allow you to enter into different parts of the world as alternate characters for a short time. During this time you are able to experience scenes or dialogues that aren't directly shown throughout the main story quest. While accessing SMs the player may be able to interact with the world around them including battles and exploration. After finishing the SM the player will be rewarded with the items they may have found along with the extra lore they have uncovered during their experience (and maybe secret skills).
COLORED WEAPON TIERS
Inspired again by the Diablo series, SJ offers eight varying degrees of colored item tiers during your journey from 'normal' to 'transcendent'.
I. White - Normal
The first of tier of quality that offers no bonus stats to the player.
Normal items can be found, purchased or crafted from the start.

DEVELOPER'S NOTES
I'm just a lone guy working on this entire project. I'm new to MV (played the RM on the PS1) It's been fun so far to say the least!
It's something I've thought about doing for a while and I finally started hammering out a lot of the development at the end of the summer.
Through August I wrote the core essence of the story, created the weapon and armor catalogue and started creating all the characters.
During September I have started creating all the starting maps, started developing skills and started learning all these plugins!
I am now in the process of stringing them all together now!
I have some things I need to learn how to do, which I always receive the best help from the forums.
I am currently looking into parallaxing or some way to make better shadows on my maps as well as lighting effects like light beams in the forests.
If anyone has any tips about how to work some plugins, or tips on the map making or anything you see let me know.
I would be glad to hear any and all feedback.
Also if anyone is interesting in making a title screen PM me.
Thank you for reading!
Special shout outs (so far) to Drifty, Echo, RPGDon, TheUnproPro, Yanfly and Galv for their videos in which I've learned everything so far.

I should have a 3-5 hour main story quest to be able to be released in January 2017.

A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it.
Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe.
Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat,
and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. - K
