As the title implies this thread is about those drivers that are reckless and cause lots of accidents. They cut you off, pull out in front of you and even run lights or tailgate you. So I would to ask you about your experiences with reckless drivers and does it seem today that it is worse or is it about the same.

One of mine recent memories of a driver that was behind me and was insistent that I keep moving to the point that at every stop sign he would honk when I tried to look for oncoming cars. So at the next stop sign I slowed down to a crawl and of course he passed me.

What are some of your stories?

One time we were pulling into the post office downtown, and as you know; driving downtown is just the best (subtle sarcasm). Anyway, it's cramped, and because the space is so small that means we're still partially out in the road as we're pulling in. There's this car and it's just not slowing down or anything. I am pretty dang confident he would have just t-boned us had we finished pulling in just seconds later. I didn't want to go anywhere the next day, it was that scary.

Okay, my friend Clarice is an excellent driver, however, she has a tendency to drive like a stunt driver would.

Rather than come to a complete stop, she'll take a left-hand turn like one would on a circuit. Given her car is rear-wheel drive, it makes powersliding and countersteering a lot easier. Of course, she would do this only if she had a left-hand turn signal or if there wasn't one at all. Although it's not necessarily dangerous, and she execute these turns excellently, I do believe it is against the law.

Her father was a Formula car racer back in the 1980s; she learned all his tricks including the handbrake downshift.

Has she ever been pulled over? If she has, not while I was in the car.

As far as how other people drive, yeah; 94% of drivers need to go tf BACK to Driver's Ed, and the elderly should be REQUIRED to retake the tests every six months if NOT MORE OFTEN.

An elderly man turned while I was in the crosswalk. I had the right of way, and he ran me over. He wasn't going fast enough to injure me other than to make me stumble, but if it weren't for the cop nearby who saw the whole thing, that could of gotten ugly because of the nasty things he said to me (he called me gang-related and prostitution-related names) before the cop pulled up.

No charges were filed; if I had the desire there could of been, but since all I wanted to do was go tf back home (I had another MILE to walk by the way), he was given a warning, and I got a business card with numbers to call if something like this were to happen again. I'm pretty sure that card saw the inside of the trash can within an hour of me walking in my front door. Jerkwad.

No, I don't have a car, can't afford it right now on top of all the other CRAP DEBT I owe. I also have to take the test to be re-certified anyway so I will do that first. I know I'll pass easily but...

Yes, I can drive a stick shift.

@Reapergurl Wow you were lucky you were not run over by other cars following this person.
@Ms Littlefish That is scary. I had an accident that actually did do some minor damage. I waiting behind traffic at a stop light and all the sudden I see this car in my rearview mirror and within a second I was hit hard but oddly enough the air bags did not go off. He said he was guilty and was apparently looking down on the floor or his phone. I would gather the latter. After that incident I kept thinking if the car coming up behind me was going to stop especially how some will be right on your bumper.

@Hollow 1977 Actually, I didn't follow him, he stopped (I should of said ran into me instead of over me but to the law both are the same thing). There also were very few other cars around (I don't live in a bustling city-I live in a town with a small and sparse population), other than the police officer.

I can pass the written test, but I never had behind the wheel experience. I chose not to drive due to poor eyesight (farsightedness, night blindness, colourblindess) and partial deafness. The drivers here are RECKLESS HELLAS and just to be a defensive driver capable of surviving the crap roads here atop that would most likely stop my already bad ticker. Though I take the bus, walk and bike, I've had plenty of asshats nearly run me down either speeding or being on their phones, or in a general rush despite having the right of way (especially at cross signals. they will inch forward and gun their engines. tf...)
I considered learning how to drive for the rare emergency. but every time I start, I have a new excuse to go nah not today.

Passed my test in November (yay!) Already had a car my brother-in-law gave me but I bought my own a couple months ago so my wife could have the other one.

And jesus christ have I come up against some idiots. Had a guy the other day who overtook me (while I was going 60) on a blind corner, and the speed he went whizzing past he had to have been doing over 70 at the time. I saw a guy behind a lorry in front of me on the way home from work yesterday who was so far up the lorry's arse he was just about coming out of the other side (and would have been if the lorry'd had to do an emergency stop for some reason).

I was crossing the street at a crosswalk of a long street and looking both ways like a model citizen and a motorcycle runs over my foot, which is strange, since I could be seen from minutes away.

Just yesterday I was leaving subway and attempting to cross the street when a van or truck coming down that street towards me street immediately turns down the nearest parking isle going the wrong way and nearly crashing into someone driving down the same parking isle. The idiot did this to avoid having to stop or slow down for me so I could cross the street safely.

Left turn shooting-the-gap drivers, still need to yield for pedestrians (especially with the crosswalk light on!) mid crosswalk.

Perhaps we need to melt down their car parts down to make more Rule#1 of Drivers' Ed. signs.
