For users that use BMT micro to sell their products: which DRM do you use?

I've been looking at the BMT site and it says it supports: Armadillo (can't find it), WinLicense and ExeShield + your own DRM

Armadillo is Software Passport. It's no longer being developed or sold, but I managed to get a free copy by emailing the company.

This is a decision I've yet to make myself. I'll download the other two, and go with whichever is easier to set up.

I see... I guess I'll wait for others and try the other two when I get time... :)

Oh and if you do finish trying... please kindly tell me your opinions.

@Shaz, is it still possible to get another free copy of Armadillo now? How does it work, that software passport?

You'd have to send them an email. Amanda's "how to sell your game" guide (pinned at the top of this forum) shows you how to use it, but the guide is for an older version, and some of the screens aren't the same.

I tried the demo of WinLicense, it has a lot of options

like:

Choose what type of key/s will you accept? File key (.dat), registry based key (.reg), text keys or even smart keys...

Choose what limitations an unregistered version will have (days, executions, global time etc)

Reset trial status upon registration or not

License manager

Can make licenses based on the hardware ID

etc

but it's license is subscription based and costs quite high compared to ExeShield... Haven't got to test ExeShield though since our office's network seems to block off it's download page

Thank for the info I didn't know there are giving away free copies by e-mailing to them. I sent them a e-mail for a free copy.

to their support e-mail is this correct?

I tried Exeshield basic version today.

It's cheapest but you can only make two type of license (days and no. of execution).

I dunno, if tis a good idea to make a demo, that limit the player to play only one day....

Some players can beat your game in less than a day... And number of executions is as bad for your purposes as well.

Is it any good? but hmmm...I'd prefer a time based rather than day based since as Lemony said, people might be able to finish the game in less than a day, so doing a day lock is quite not so good...

btw I found Software passport downloads in here:

Silicon Realms

Armadillo?

Umm... Silicon Realms told me that they only gave out free copies to companies. But not available to individual. @Shaz Did you use your site/company e-mail to get a copy?

Well, that site named to Silicon Realms that I linked has downloads on it... I already sent an email about what the downloads can be used for, but they haven't replied yet...

EDIT: not really needed, they are trial versions... :)

If your game has a lot of replay value and releasing the add-on, etc, that might do the trick, I think.

Well the trial version cannot be used in commercial nor non-commercial products. So it totally useless than to test the DRM system.

Yeah, they finally replied... They're still planning what to do to the future of SP... I told them the company isn't set-up yet so I can't really ask for a key so I'd just wait...

Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
