Dry Fate

Since before man, the World Tree has grown.  If ever it were to die, all life would end within days.  Now, the World Tree has died, and the son of a great warrior has been sent to discover why.  Journeying through a fantastic floating world, visit sites that defy explanation, dungeons of inconceivable danger, and meet a cast of fascinating characters.


Dry Fate is a fantasy adventure with a small amount of screwball comedy lightly peppered in.

Arvale: The none-too-bright, but courageous and even-tempered hero.
​

Ceres: A tree spirit who joins Arvale on a quest to save her tree (not the World Tree, her tree, specifically).
​

Mayor: He's not a very good Mayor, but he does his best.
​

Travel by airship to the mysterious floating islands of the land, explore ancient ruins, a deadly volcano, and an evil tower.  Who knows, you may find a way to save the world, and maybe even raise the hero's IQ...slightly.

Bird's Log #1 - I've traveled to the volcano and uncovered a key! I'm stopping for now but shall continue more tomorrow. Some notes:

• I -really- like the fact that the player is healed after a battle. With how many times I've been burnt and poisoned in the first 20 minutes, I am SO thankful.
  
• The boss battle at the volcano didn't feel very exciting. I just spammed the HP Regen skill and that boss couldn't even knock my health bar down. Keep in mind I was level 4.
  
• I think the drop rate on the monsters might be a bit too high. Considering this hp regen skill and the fact that you heal after each battle I'm finding my inventory full of potions that I haven't needed to use. Throughout the whole game I've used 3 potions and 1 hi-potion and now have 20+ in my inventory that I'm not sure I'll need.
  
• Awesome sprites, animations, and event usage, love the style of the world map and the monster sprites!
  

Bird's Log #2 - I've finished the game- great little story! Here are some extra notes!

• Noticed weird graphic lines in the cloud area, just walk around there and you'll see them.
  
• The side stairs in the tower felt weird to go up and down, just kinda felt flat and I kept getting stuck in the walls xD
  
• The angel lady definitely required more skill to take down, I liked that battle!
  
• The final battle wasn't very difficult at all though, I don't think he even got me below 75% health once
  
• I liked having a choice to make at the end!
  
• Still didn't use that many items. I think I stuck to using a few more hi potions while I grinded, but that's all.
  
• The lever area confused me for quite a bit- I didn't know I was supposed to follow the pixel sprite since the directions come right after your dryad friend was talking. I thought she was gonna run off somewhere!
  

Otherwise, very nice little game, I really enjoyed it and the quirky humor

Yes, the way the swap event went, we each made half a game and they got swapped with someone random.  I got Frogge's half.  We weren't supposed to really touch each other's half; but just continue the game.  With a bit of discussion, I did end up tweaking the volcano level a little.  There are more monsters, you start off with slightly higher stats, but the dragon didn't change.  Maybe I'll give him a little boost.


We're actually remaking some of the areas, including the cloud area, and making a new dungeon, that we originally didn't do because of time constraints.


Yes, Lady Avril is my favorite fight.  As someone who isn't very experienced making enemies, I was really proud of her design.  The final boss kind of underscores that.  He's got the highest stats in the game, and even if you meet him at the level you were fighting Avril, he's still easier.  Frogge and I are trying to come up with ideas for him.


Item balance: I was going to fix this...then I saw Liberty's stream of this game and I changed my mind.  She had a lot of fun.  She's the 7thLittleLeopard on YouTube and it's the Swap in the Middle with You Stream part 2, at the end.  I was going to fix what I saw her do, but Unity, Luiishu, and everyone else said, NO!  Leave it!  Liberty said that if a player finds a fun way to break the game, that can be a fun Easter egg.


I'm going to change where the clue is so that you can go back and reread it if you have to.


Maybe I can add some kind of barrier to the stairs...
