Alright, so here's my problem. I have a character who should be capable of dual-wielding. Alright, fine and dandy. But if I put the dual-wield trait in his class page, he can dual wield anything he can wield. Not cool. I want him to have to have one "main" weapon and then be able to also wield a smaller sidearm. So, okay, no problem. Go over to the daggers add the dual-wield trait to those weapons. Now he can wield daggers and shortswords along with a regular sword, or along with each other, just like I planned.

There's one small problem.

Now another character who wields daggers and shortswords can also dual-wield. D'oh!

I could create a separate "sidearm" weapon type, but it would end up pretty much duplicating what's in the daggers type. And while that's not game-breaking, it looks more than a little odd in shops. And making the sidearms different and not allowing the dual-wielding character to dual-wield with daggers is also odd. He should be able to dual-wield anything that's lighter than his main weapon. I have a largish cast, and keeping their fighting styles distinct is important to me, so I don't really want to get lazy on the dual-wielding mechanic.

Is there anything anyone can do? If it's of any interest at all, the game is non-commercial.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
