So, one thing RPG's do to make it so (in most cases) dual wielding isn't overpowered, is to fraction the damage each weapon does a bit, that way they don't basically do 2 full powered attacks, outshining most other characters. I wanna know if that is possible in RPG Maker 2003. I wouldn't wanna just half their Strength, that would make it so, say if they didn't want to use two weapons at a time, they'd be nerfed heavily. Is this at all possible to do?

It is possible and not that difficult.
You'll have to use Variable operations, adding to one variable equipped weapons. Then conditional branch if it's equal to 2, inflicts a state.

EDIT: Nevermind. That one only covers all actors, not the only one... However, it is still possible if each has unique weapons.

So if the one were to dual wield all characters would suffer a damage reduction?

Nope, I didn't mean it this way...
Unless everyone uses weapons unique to them, there is no way to 100% decide who is dual wielding.
If everyone uses only weapons unique to them, you can safely use the method above.

There are other alternatives, like making dual wield weapons don't give crit damage or making them less powerful than one wielded weapons.

Besides that, remember one thing... Characters that equip two weapons don't equip shields, they already have a weakness (less defence).

Yeah. But see a dual wielding character is gonna be near the start of the game, and I wouldn't want them outshining the main character.

@LightDiviner well, you can make your main character outstanding in something else maybe? Maybe make the main character the dual wield one? Give less Attack Power to the dual wielder? Unleash your creativity!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
