RPG Maker Forums

Inspired by topic here, about alternate words for "Magic Attack" and why "Intelligence" tends to be used so much.

The answer to this question, as well as the origin of almost all RPG cliches, is Dungeons and Dragons*- the very first RPG.

As someone who grew up with knowledge of the non-computer origins of RPGs, and an evid gamer of games like DnD, it seems strange to me how many players of games like Skyrim (Which was even inspired by a game of DnD ran by the developers) have never heard of this game.

So I was wondering how many of you guys have heard of DnD? How many of you play it? Used to play? What are your inner most thought and feelings on the topic?

*Other than spikey haired protagonists, that's totally a JRPG thing.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
