Dynamic Choices?

Hello everyone,

This is my first post. I'm loving RPG Maker MV so far. The move to Javascript and the great Mac support has really turned it into a real option for me.

So, the first problem I've ran into so far that I can't seem to overcome is how to display dynamic choice options? For example, an NPC might have 3 answer choices by default, but as the storyline progresses, there may be a 4th option added, and a 5th, and so on. Non-linear dialogue trees, I guess, like you'd see in a point and click adventure or visual novel? Using if conditions and/or changing event states altogether both seem like overkill and maintenance nightmares, and I've tried doing it with the script option but have a limited amount of space in the box to use. And while I think I could make something work by creating a plugin if I spent enough time on it, it seems like an issue that would come up a lot and that someone surely already has a great solution they'd be willing to share? :)

Thanks in advance,

Lusid

You would need to create a separate dialogue activated by switches or variables for each part of the story you want it changed at. Not everything needs to be recreated, just the "choice" options. Which in turn could forward you, using the command to jump to another location within the event, to the specific text for that option outside of each conditional to prevent rewriting of the same text multiple times.

Probably best to wait for a plugin that offers conditional/optional choices.

It can be done without a plugin like described above, but that will require a lot of event commands and different show choices, and that will be a lot of work if you want to use it for more than a few cases.

Such a script was written for Ace, but I haven't seen one yet for MV - probably because the script writer can't convert everything at once. Wait one or two months and it should be available.

I think Tsukihime may have already converted his script.  Check through the MV Plugin Releases forum.  He had two scripts - one for "more" choices, which I know he's converted, and the other one was to allow conditional choices - this one I'm not sure if he's converted, but it's the one you need to look for.

Moving to Plugin Requests

How many parameters is 'too many'??
Yay, now back in action Happy Christmas time, coming back!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

Kind of gives a very different feel. :LZSexcite:
To whom ever person or persons who re-did the DS/DS+ asset packs for MV (as in, they are all 48x48, and not just x2 the pixel scale) .... THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!! XwwwwX
