The battle of Lukou has a remix of the track "March" from DW3; it's one of my favourite tracks from the Dynasty Warriors series.
I played a couple of them and decided they weren't my cup of tea. I haven't played 8 though, so it's possible they've made improvements. I hope so. Because the combat was extremely shallow and repetitive on the games I played. And some of what they did to the characters I found unforgiveable. Like turning Zhang He into a cross dressing Vega wanna be. To be fair some other characters they portray accurately, like Zhuge Liang or Kong Ming. Which ever name you prefer.Have any of you been playing the glorious latest entry in the Dynasty Warriors series? I'd be tempted to say it's the best one yet as it brings together most of the really cool mechanics of older DW games and adds its own features on top; the result being the shot of refreshment the series so desperately needed.
What do you think of how they've handled Story Mode this time around, and are you a fan of the new characters (Yue Jin is so much fun to play as) and movesets? How about Ambition Mode? I'm completely hooked on that. Discuss what you think of DW8 here! (My god it's so good!)
You can buy the previous BGMs now, including 7 chibi music.I don't like the DW8 Battle of Chibi Music. I much prefer the DW7.
I've played ROTK XI quite a bit. I find it amazing how deep that series is; I'd love to get my hands on XII but that's currently Japan only. As for DW8, it's easily the best in the series yet. If you found the older titles repetitive there's a lot more mission variation this time around, and some mechanics have been added to allow for a deeper experience overall. I can totally see why you're not a huge fan of DW though; ROTK is certainly a much deeper series.I played a couple of them and decided they weren't my cup of tea. I've read the novel many times and have been playing the strategy series since the Nintendo days. So I feel like I know a lot of the characters almost on a personal basis. That probably affects how I view the Dynasty Series in a somewhat negative way. Kind of like if you read a book you really enjoy then watch a movie that doesn't stay true to the book. It can cause the movie to leave a bad taste in your mouth.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI with the add on power kit is easily one of the best games ever made. Unfortunately the original game doesn't come with the add on and it can be difficult to obtain. But if you can manage it - I would try that game out if you haven't already. As long as you get it with the power kit it's an amazing game. And If you like the characters and story behind Dynasty Warriors - I think you will like it.
It's an incredible game on a lot of different levels. The US release suffered from AI problems. But if you get the PUK (Power Up Kit) it turns that game into a flawless triumph. I can't recommend it enough especially for Dynasty Warrior fans. So needless to say, I agree with you about that game's depth.I've played ROTK XI quite a bit.
