Game Synopsis: Basically, what I have so far is a rag-tag group of companions are from various backgrounds throughout a certain certain of the world. Within this region of the world, they are oppressed by various forms of oppression by different forms of Empire, noble classes and privileged groups that have an interest in oppressing the region. Those reasons range from a sense of moral superiority to just plain economic superiority. However, there are those on the inside of these seemingly unmovable forces that are willing to collaborate with rebels and take on those in power.

This gives those in power the perfect excuse to convince those already under their control to justify the lose of their autonomy which is watched very closely from a short distance by spies in those areas. However, conflicting interests complicate things and eventually fuels a 'might makes right' power grab in the area.  While this is happening a large, neighboring power is watching and even sends in mercenaries to fire the flames of war and conflict even more. Which is how they are found out that they are interfering after a captured mercenary tells who is paying them.

As the main player attempts to put down adversaries, build up towns, clear enemy lairs/strongholds that can be claimed as their own, the group of companions will come to battle against other foreign entities while trying to keep local clans and factions from tearing themselves apart.  Monster lairs will grow strong if not quelled, enemies grow strong if not dealt with and resources need to be gathered in order to keep towns and strongholds running.  This is by no means a sim style game but will have elements of gathering, side-quests among busy work to break up the monotony of constant fighting.

There will be different species of characters such as elves, hopefully dwarves and possibly several other types of humanoids. We'll see. I also like making my characters interesting and have somewhat of a backstory of their own.

This is still in early development so there are bugs, and still hashing out which game assets will be used as well as many other technical/artsy details.

Feel free to leave feedback, I love productive criticism and advice.

Edit: Changing the name of the game to The Serpentcrest Legacy: Realm of Deception

Edit: I know that the first load takes a little bit, trying to figure that out. Also use Chrome, Firefox, TOR or NWJS browser as they seem to work best.

Edit: "Stuck 5 minutes on Now Loading... now.

This take too long, can't you just provide an offline version instead? At least you would get some feedback. -.-' "

I recently updated it so hopefully that helps.

It's not loading, please consider providing an offline version as well.
Please try again, I found a problem with conflicting plugins that was creating this issue. It shouldn't be a problem any more.

To the people that's having problems: I don't see the the several minutes long loading you guys are talking about. Neither are my friends that are testing it from online that are in Taiwan, Japan, Canada and Northern USA.

Ok i played for roughly 15 minutes and this is what I found:

Writing this as I play…

First off, the first map is strange.
Too much of the same grass and flowers. It looks unnatural.
Same goes for the tents
The doggie is suddenly und the wall o0 how did that happen?!
What is Harold doing here o0?
Holy **** that’s a lot of equipment you can put on….
Maybe you should rethink the massage sound effect…
The edge of the lake looks brighter than the rest of the grass
You can walk on the blue flowers on the lake.
Some of the grass tiles have different colour then others
Oh, found some random smoke!
…. By the way, what am I supposed to do?
Small mapping mistake at the big house with to sack sings
Wow, there are A LOT of cats and dogs…. Any reason for that o0?
The village is WAY to spread….
What is it with all the holes? I get it it’s a mining town but still…
Also, a lot of these villagers want to kill me for some reason?
You should reposition the enemies more to the left.
The battle music does not fit.
There are WAY too much monsters on the map. Better reduce them.
The sound effect is annoying. Especially since there are so damn much of them so it sound like this:
Wush! Wush Wush! Wush! Wush! Wush Wush! Wush!
Wush! Wush Wush! Wush!
Wush! Wush Wush! Wush !
…..
You get it, do you?
tl:dr : Your biggest weakness is your mapping. Start with smaller maps and maybe take a look at this :

you can get a good idea on how to map more naturally there.

But your main mistakes are:

  1. Overuse of the grass deco. There is a great auto tile you can use for that. its right at the top. looks like grass, cant miss it.+
  2. The map is WAY to large. cut down the village size, make it more central, shorter ways etc.
  3. Make the village its own map. and the field with the monsters an other one. ( that way the game will be faster , less laggy)
  4. reduce the dogs and cats. and check the events of them, they can go through walls, that is scary.
  5. I dont really know what I was supposed to do.... Give clearer instructions.
  6. Get Herold out of there. What is he doing there?
  7. Re-position the enemies. they are way to much in the middle.
  8. Maybe rethink your battle music choice. sounds too modern

I think that are the most important things to work on...

He mad, but he cute :kaopride:

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
